November 8, 201114 yr Asking here because it is near my location later. Going back to Thailand in Feb and every year use many stupid expensive cards for a crummy internet connection. Last year I managed to sometimes use my neighbor's wifi but it was not on all the time and not really fast. My question is does anyone know if any of the internet companies there allow a 1 month subscription with no contract?
November 9, 201114 yr Your best bet is to check with some cell phone providers about 3G connections in the north. I know True claims to have this and simms are available if your phone is unlocked. It will depend on your equipment as to what you are looking for. ADSL through TOT is available and is reasonably reliable but not sure how short a contract is available and you have to be hardwired in at your location. I pay a little less then 1000 bht/month.
November 9, 201114 yr Have you tried a 'Dongal" from 12Call from Telewiz. If you have a Mobile Phone signal you will get internet. Not fast but you will have something.
November 10, 201114 yr Author Never owned a cell phone and I need a regular computer during the day. Tried those sim cards last year for 2 weeks and sooooooo slowwwwwwwww. Watching video was useless. Impossible to do any stock market trades at night. Same with a dongle. Guess I will either be at my neighbor's mercy again to use his wifi (I gave 1000 baht to him for 2 weeks and was never on all the time). I will check with the internet companies there in the Phayao area I guess if 1 month at a premium is viable.
