Our land in Ubon Ratchathani.  Just started building our house a couple days ago.

Nice. Are some of those images of Chaiyaphum province? I love Issan. Gorgeous scenery, open vistas, nice people, more tropical weather, and cooler winters. Look forward to retiring up there someday soon.

Drove past this on one of the back roads in Udon.

Taken only yesterday, they were preparing for a Film night.

I thought it was so lovely, & the tech from many years ago.....

I love Isaan.

It has become a rare occasion.

Can't even remember how many years ago I saw one in our village. That was an attraction before they all had digital TV, flatscreens, smartphones etc.

They had a film in our village last month. The first for a couple of years. Absolutely no-one watched it. The two organisers were out of it on Lao khow. It all finished at 10pm; fortunately.

The smart phone has rendered this - once common, and lucrative business - obsolete.

Intrigued with Isaan and definitely on my bucket list, I just went through all the pages right from the beginning, a decade and a half ago. Great fun, interesting.

It also showed the advancement of digital photography (most pictures probably taken with a smart phone). The early ones (about first 5 to 8 years) were pretty low resolution. The last half, much higher. Enjoyed them all though.

Nice that this thread is still alive, unlike (I assume) many of the posters as there were many names/avatars that I didn't recognize.

Baan Vinai, the Hmong refugee camp in Loei in 1981 (?).  It was close to Pak Chom, up by the Mekong river. I worked there in 1979/80.  The population grew tremendously after I left.

Me too,

I'm living and I am the only farang in my village since 14 years .

My village is at about 12 km from Sawang Daen Din in Sakon Nakhon province .

I like/love to cycle everywhere around it ;

yesterday I was on the road to go to Charoen Sin ;

I saw a little red road I never went on ...

About 3 or 4 km I discovered that , in a sort of " farm " where people are working on big trucks

And that

I continue the path and I fall on it;
the photo was taken once the gate crossed on one side because it is fixed on the ground.

In fact the owners or tenants of the so-called "farm" have simply privatized this public road;
A few hundred meters from my village, a farmer did the same thing with a path on which I walked with my dogs a few years ago.

I continue to cycle on the red  road to "land" along with this with the smells that go with

Behind this high wall there is the same thing as along the road, but on a very large surface and certainly a not negligible thickness;
we can see a kind of factory with two chimneys; it seems to me disaffected;
why does the Sawang Municipality not restart it?

9 + 34 = - 16

The logic is completely lost after seeing all the pictures.

The degree of sacrifice of the guys from the modern world who came to LOS to enjoy all this luxury seems to be greater than the sacrifice of the messiah who came to this world to save the poor soul two thousands years ago.

I commend you all.

จุดชมวิวผามะนาว อำเภอกาบเชิง จังหวัดสุรินทร์

South Surin, view point looking over the border into the Bode.

Surin is an awesome place, love how the weather rolls in over the flats. Loads of temples, very chilled atmosphere, looking forward to hanging my last hat there one day. Aunties Palm oil farm, me on a rice field, me at that viewpoint, Surin train station in all her glory & of course, my favorite retard at Phanom Rung.

And who on earth would want to watch a movie on a 6" screen? Boring.

Name in English ("Lonely Mountain") is visible inside the picture attached. You'll find great craftmanship once you've passed the entrance gate. Reminded me of Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble. Beautiful.received_1362761194567281.thumb.jpeg.0cbb392d88f3720c5791ae30daa73cdf.jpeg
