I love to take a easy ride around the lake-stop and have a cigarret or take a few pictures.

Alot of people,fishing-and on one side restaurants.

Nice place.

Wow, that is really beautiful.

Can you give some directions on where it is and how to get there? I'm not sure where Wat Doi Kwai is...

thanks,

Rich

No where near Brian's house but a good source of cooked shrimp in pleasant surroundings at a reasonable price is just off 118, the Chiang Mai road.

It's about 1.5 km (a mile) from the Highway 1 turn off (MaeLao), you come to a klong and go over the bridge and turn left, then you can see it.

There's a small lake there and you can throw the shrimp heads into it and watch giant fish fight over them.

No, I don't know the name.

Edit... here's a little map.

several different ways to get there but probably easiest is to get on the road near the old airport that Barry's golf course/driving range/world class hamburgers is on....then drive straight by that away from town up over the hills just keep going straight and you will pass buffalo hill resort on your left...keep going for a mile or two and you'll come to a fork in the road..the left fork has a sign and straight up a mountain goes up to wat doi kwai (one of the best views in CR)...or the right fork goes down to the lake...if you are looking for dancing shrimp restaurant there is no english sign but about halfway down the road that goes along the right hand side of the lake(there are two lakes..the second bigger lake is what you want) it is the restaurant with the most cars as it is always busy...closed on sunday....if you go weekdays get there before 11;45 am or after about 1;30 or so as it is packed at lunch with local thai office/govt / etc workers who seem to come in big groups...get your order in before they arrive...wonderful thai food, cheap prices, big menu in english language but don't expect much spoken english......all thai food no falang food...cute nice waitresses etc...no AC....very local ...rarely see a falang there...at night it gets filled up as well with more whiskey consumed...there are several restaurants around the lake...some not so good...ask for GOONG DEN..which is sorta the thai pronunciation of dancing shrimp and you'll figure it out...enjoy....and yes the lake is very pretty and lots of thais hanging around fishing etc...

Hi!

You go at Sanambin road to the old airport-turn right and follow the road until it split-one to the right and one strait forward-take the one to the right and over the top of the litle hill, you will se it all.

Where the road split-take the other way and turn left-then you will came up to Wat doi Kwai.

Here you have some pictures, taken from Wat doi Kwai.
