Mates Going Nutty

Featured Replies

Had a friend call me in desperate straights a few months back. So off to a pub and he proceeds to tell me how worried he is about Greece and Spain failing and all the other bad news going on. Took 45 minutes to calm him down or perhaps the ale finally did its job. Lately another friend is going nuts about the Euro and another one is listening to too many conspiracy blogs. I tried to calm each one of these good people down and tell them that getting yourself in a tizzy isn't going to help their life. They might have other things going on in their lives that is adding to the stress, but paying too much attention to the news doesn't seem to be too healthy if it cause stress. Anyone else seeing this going on with people?

Yeah, I saw that thread. Folks I am talking about are normal guys that just lately seem to get wrapped up in all the news. They are not at the freak stage. Well, not yet anyway.....

I haven't seen anybody going nutty over the Euro, at least not here. I have seen people saying "glad we are not in Europe at this time".

And the conspiracy thingy is another thing: Many people over here are ex CIA, ex SIS, ex MI5 etc. Some really are, others belong to the other thread. But that's not a new phenomenon. :whistling:

News can be addictive. Certain current events can worry people; often irrationally. The litmus test is when the event is over, do they re-adjust and move on or is it a constant situation.

The situation with the Euro doesn't affect me personally, but it is very interesting to watch this situation unfolding.

They are lucky to have a friend who will take the time to talk them 'down', a little.
