Honda Crf 250L

Featured Replies

Where did you get these figures from? I have never seen performance figures for a stock KLX that has had the factory restriction bypassed. Can you provide a link to it? I really want to know.

Once again, the KLX will also lose weight when ditching it's also heavy standard muffler. They are both heavy, as always.

I think longer mirrors may set you back all of B300. I know a guy took his CRF to the kawasaki shop and put a KLX shift lever on it as it has a spring loaded tip.....B280.....

CRF's 1 radiator, non adjustable suspension, crappy flat air filter, thinner spokes......

No definate winner here yet. Early days.

Guys I have a 2012 KLX and a few weeks ago I bought the Mrs a CRF.

My KLX has an API Tech fixed ECU and the CRF is stock.

My opinion go with the KLX it has a broader power range and kicks the tacky CRF's ass.

CRF makes a good school run bike for her indoors.

So you concluded this after racing the missus? Is she a talented motorcyclist?

And what the heck is a school run run bike for her indoors?

Just came back from API tech & they had the new CRF in the workshop courtesy of AP Honda. Will be nice to see the performance results once it has been fitted with the tuned ECU

Not much use fitting an aftermarket ECU unless you change the exhaust and air filter.

I am more interested in getting a nice end can where you can keep the heat shield and a K&N filter before changing the ECU. Good that they are into the development though.

You would say that after buying a 2012 KLX though wouldn't you...Should have waited.....It's pretty clear by now the CRF is the better bike.

yeah exhaust is the main thing I want at the moment ,someone mention a couple of weeks ago that dirtbike shop is getting them in ,might get the misses to give them a ring tommorow see if they have anymore info

Nair at moto cross shop here in Chiang Mai has two different sets available. I am waiting for an FMF one or similar.

Taninthai, where did you get your tail tidy? I thought it was through Honda but it is not in their catalogue.

^

my tail. Tidy is for a ksr it's a perfect fit the light follows the exact profile of the rear fender just had to drill 2 holes through the rear fender to attach it

Through the white part of the fender as to be visible? Any pics?

yep the bolts are visible been meaning to change them to some white dome shape heads, dirtbike shop has the tinted rear light not sure how its fitted though

Opps, just noticed the fluid on the floor. Maybe some chemical metal could help to seal it and then make sure the fan can't hit it anymore.

Chemical metal in a brand new bike? Wouldn't be my choice.

Go get your rad fixed or replaced.

Depends if you are going to fall off again or not. If you are new to offroad, then it is likely you will drop the bike quite often until you get used to it. Better to use cheap fixes until you get the hang of it.

Back home we would only use chemical leak stoppers on vehicles past their due date. It's not good to have something that plugs holes running around your nice new hoses and engine parts.

But I am beginning to see the new CRF has a bit of an allergy to dirt. This is the second one out of commission from a drop.

Any watercooled offroad bike will damage the radiator in a fall. That is why most people fit braces to them. There will be one available for the CRF soon enough. Rads are expensive. It will be intersting to see what a new one runs for. Taninthai will most likely need a new one.

A chemical leak stopper is a polar different to a chemical metal.

The leak stopper you put in the radiator and a chemical metal (epoxy metal) is a putty that you put on the outside of the radiator (hole).

Ok I misunderstood, the stuff you put on the outside works well, I have put in on fuel tanks.

He could try it but with the heat and pressure inside a radiator I doubt it will work. Plus it may be leaking from an inaccessable spot. I reckon Taninthai is the first guy to buy a new rad.....

It is common to use this type of metal epoxy putty for small repairs on radiators unless of-course you have unlimited wealth and are happy to purchase a new radiator every-time you spring a leak which happens often when riding out in the bush.

I used it on my VT500 radiator after a minor crash when I was a despatch rider. I was riding about 1000 miles a week and had no issues with it.

Mmm ok googled these rad braces and I would definitely say you want one of them on your bike

Dont really want to buy new rad until I can get hold of a brace as the same thing could happen again ,so will look for this epoxy metal if no joy will order new rad towards end of week.

Crash my KLX all the time, never damaged the radiator... whistling.gif

thanks again for the info. Justcrusin,

just to share with the rest, I ordered the skid plate and rack for my CRF 250l from NAE at the cmmxshop, Skid guard and seat rack is 1500+1500+250 for shipping = 3250 ฿ 250 baht was for shipping EMS to Bkk. They also have a website. He said they are putting together exhausts as well, but not ready yet.

Just thinking if taninthai has his rad repaired by a local "somchai" it will just be smothered by silicone or rubber cement as a stop gap solution.

Ok found some of this epoxy liquid metal today just waiting for it to dry then test it again for leaks it looks like it was only the fan that made a small hole by the rad bending and moving it slightly bringing it into contact with spinning fan

just replace it taninhthai.

it is hard to fix a radiator and if you are going into the jungle, these kind of parts have no room for any risk.

and, get a radiator cover man. You can create one for yourself easily with metal mesh where you can find from any hardware shop. Just cut one for the size of the radiator and install it.

Does anyone know how to make this bike loud as F&@k?? If i cut open the muffler and take out any excess objects will it be enough or will i have to retune the ECU? And Is it possible to get more effect out of the engine only by modifying the ECU? And not changing other parts?

Man im so dissapointed with the sound the bike gives. The bike rides like a dream, suspension in front and back are great but without sound there is no feeling. I knew i should have bought a 2 stroke KTM bike.

Was thinking the same thing, unless you have it wide open sounds like a wet fart huh.png ... although still great fun and i want a relatively maintenance free bike thumbsup.gif anyone know where you can get different sprockets for these, first and second gear seem all wrong to me ??..or does the warranty cover clutch replacement ?
