Does anyone know if foreigners are liable to pay Tax in Thailand - eg. For interest earned on a Thai bank account. I have heard that some banks "withhold" tax, but can these be claimed back if you are not liable - ie. you are not working in Thailand, so would be below the threshold for paying income tax.

Many times put money in Thai Banks and paid 15% on interest on a joint account I've also put money in a sole account and still paid tax.

I do not pay tax on interest in my UK sole account, I have never really asked about it here because I was told that tax laws are very different to the UK for example.

Hey, don't know if this is a dumb question. But do you think most wives and pr*censored*titutes pay taxes on their "maintenance money"? I'm thinking no...
