Private Guide

I'll be making my first trip to Chiang Mai in a couple of weeks and would probably look to find a local guide to show me about, rather than go on "organised" tours.

I've look in the guide books so I've already got an idea of the obvious places to see, but a bit of local knowledge wouldn't go amiss.......

Any tips where to find someone???

When I first retuned to Thailand after more than 25 years from an r&r visit I quickly picked up the habit of traveling with long haired dictionarys to facilitate my travels throughout the kingdom, till I felt it easier to travel solo and find more localized options. Pretty easy to do after arriving somewhere

Now when we are talking about local guides....

A little while ago I tried to locate a guide we knew from a previous trip to CM, but without any luck. Now we have arranged our trekking tour we some other local guide, but it would still be great to meet the guide from last time, as he was a really nice guy.

Does anyone in here know him ??

His name is Somporn, K and he lived in Sansai Village, Sansai District in Chiangmai with his wife and children back in Nov. 2003. At that time I would guess his age to have been around 35-40 maybe little less. Other information about him: He has been studying in UK. In Nov 2003 he, among other things, worked as guide for the Scandinavian company Kuoni.

Please let me know if anyone know him, I would really like to meet him again.
