World War Implications

Featured Replies

No I am not saying WWIII is inevitable or even nearby but,

I was just wondering ................

During a WW what are the implications for expats ?

also what becomes of international air travel?

During WWII for instance was international travel restricted? Safe?

Where expats evacuated from some countries?

I know Japanese were interned in places like Hawaii & other States to some degree.

Executive Order 9066 declared areas of the USA a military zone from which many or all

could be excluded....Although it was mainly directed at Japanese living in the US

Again not saying WWIII is imminent but just wondered what happens to expats & travel abilities?

Did see this recent article of best places to live during world conflict....But only deals with

best places to be....

http://www.expatify....d-conflict.html

I would imagine that any policies would be new ones, rather than based on WW2.

One thing about that link, they don't mention that the reason that Canada would be safe is because the USA would protect it. That is why they can be so liberal and get away with it.

Yes for sure policies would not be the same.

I was just curious as I don't recall reading what international travel was like during WWII

Nor can I find any real info online.

I guess in the end it will depend on your home country & where you are at the time

& who are allies etc.. which will determine if expats are allowed to stay in certain countries

Lots of if's for sure

If it's really a World War, I don't think there'll be any implications. It depends rather on who are the protagonists, but if it goes nuclear

"We'll all fry together when we fry!"

I saw another list like that not long ago.

Wow Chiang Mai tops the list :)

Glad to hear that...

Canada seems to have done a pretty good job of defending it's interests in the past.

I suspect that it's independence is as important to the US as the US is to Canada.

I don't think a few socialist economic policies neccessarily makes a country liberal anyway, how liberal was the former USSR? cool.png

How is Canada liberal?

Chicken Little is alive and well and living on the internet...

It must be wonderful living in a country that's isolated by the Atlantic AND the Pacific from the shittiness that's involved in fighting for your own territory.

Indeed. The inquiry was rhetorical.

Lists are the big thing on the internet now. You have to click a new page to see what the next thing on the list is. A list of ten takes ten or eleven clicks. Ka-ching! for ad revenue. The list itself is largely irrelevant.

I had that book as a kid. Some really interesting stuff in there.
