Gmail Issue.

Resident guru's of G mail; I seek your wisdom.

Lately, when I try to transfer individual emails to their respective folders using the "Move to" icon, they end up right back in my inbox, now tagged with the folders name.

My inbox is getting to be 8 pages long but when I try to clean it out and put things where they belong, they come right back. This seemed to start with the new, revamped home page they introduced several months ago.

What gives??

There are two actions easily confused and right next to each other: the "folder" on the left, and the "tag" on the right. It could be you are selecting "tag" instead of "folder".

After the messages are tagged with folder names, try checking their respective boxes and clicking "Archive".

Gmail? Folders? I thought that one of the benefits of gmail was the need NOT to have folders the same as a conventional email client requires. The email 'search' function is great for finding specific emails. That's why I have no folders and the gmail home page displays 1-50 of 2,848 emails.
