Court Denies Red-Shirt Bail Talks with Thaksin

BANGKOK: -- The court spokesperson denied bail talks with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, saying legal action might be taken as the claim could hurt the credibility of the judicial system.

Spokesperson for the Court of Justice Sitthisak Wanachakit denied claims by former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra that he is talking with judges about bails for detained red-shirt leaders and supporters.

Sitthisak stressed that the court is free from outside influence and it will consider bails for each individual case according to the law and the existing criteria.

He noted that the guarantee for bail may be assets belong to defendants, family members or any other persons.

The court spokesman said bail application is subject to approval by judges in each case and that typically the approval rate is 80 percent.

Sitthisak would not comment on whether Thaksin's remarks violates the law, saying that the court does not want to be involved in lawsuits.

However, as such remarks could threaten the credibility of the justice system, the court will take appropriate measures as a response, starting with issuing warnings and clarifications.

In the worst-case scenario, legal action will be taken.

Please tell me what warped logic you have used to turn a statement "not to use aggressive action" into "aggression is peace"?

Action which is not agressive action I would equate to would include lobbying for various viewpoints to be heard for example, the KPI, or the democrat party equivalent which would be to "threaten" to sue or impeach or boycott anybody/thing that appears to have upset them in some way, imo.

At the beginning of February, after the Justice Fund was increased, it was very close to zero % and all I've seen since is that the red shirt bail cases at the end of February (around 5) had all been rejected.

None have been granted bail, according to sources......sources than launched into a 'double standards" discussion vis-a-vis political types from other pursuasions being granted bail immediately.

Have to say the picture of the red shirt protest on the Post's article is extremely unnerving. Despite all the talk of reconciliation, it's pretty clear these guys are being hyped up once again for another big ruck.

And regardless of how much truth there are in his statements, it is nothing short of jaw-dropping that the parasite who has made it his agenda over the past few years to very openly complain about supposed interference with the rule of law in Thailand, is now bragging to his loyal radicals about doing the same himself.

I remember hearing the figure of 79 being bandied about but I'm 100% sure that it was shown that there was only one and that he was in a Cambodian jail.

Thaksin says he wants reconciliation, so does Yingluck, the red shirts have their party in power and unlikely to lose it any time soon and the army will stay in their barracks so long as Mr T stays out of politics and sticks to bunkers on the golf courses of Dubai.
