Sony Laptop Bought In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought my new Sony Laptop here in Chiang Mai.

I am going home to visit America in July/August and I need to take my laptop with me.

The plug on the cord of the battery charger for my laptop has 2 post that are round (cylindrical) and unlike anything we use in America.

What can I do so that I can use my laptop in America?

Thank You Kindly

Joe

Just go buy a plug adapter (round posts to flat prongs). You can get them at many places like Amorn's, Lotus, etc. Will cost around 50 baht.

I would suggest you buy an International Plug Adaptor. They are available at most Duty Free Shops too. Have a look at the links below and you will get an idea of what to look out for. Hope this would be of help to you.

Important!!! - Don't forget to check out the input voltage for your laptop too (today, most ship with a range of 100 - 240VAC)

international adapter with fuse/surge protection would be a better investment.

Correction...they cost 62 baht at Amorn....I went to the one today looking for some other electonic stuff.

You should be able to get a replacement lead with a US plug on the end rather than use an adaptor, probably around the same price. The cheap adaptors do tend to get a bit floppy after a time, not something you want when your expensive PC is on the other end.

If you travel a lot one of the multi-country adaptors (mine is by Toshino) would probably be the best move.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

That 62 baht adapter at Amorn was a Toshino.

Pib! they will not listen to you, however you give them perfect/right advice.Your toshino cost 2$,it is

very small and light and it is perfect solution.

They love those big/international power adapters because they cost 30 euro or more, they are to big to fit into any available outlet in hotel, and they take a lot of precious place in your suitcase.

they are useless,I carry 2 or 3 small adapters for specific countries and cord.

Listen to experts!
