I agree completely. I support equal right for gays, but do not think that changing the definition of marriage is anything but a frivolous issue that will alienate most voters towards correcting much more important things.

Pileup at the White House

It has been a Junius Horribilis for President Obama.

Job growth has stalled, the Democrats have been humiliated in Wisconsin, the attorney general is facing a contempt-of-Congress citation, talks with Pakistan have broken down, Bill Clinton is contradicting Obama, Mitt Romney is outraising him, Democrats and Republicans alike are complaining about a “cascade” of national-security leaks from his administration, and he is now on record as saying that the “private sector is doing fine.”

Could it get any worse? Early Monday morning, Obama learned that it could.

If you don't support marriage equality, you don't support equality for gays. You can't have it both ways.

Ya'll say you don't care if Romney is antigay or what he did at age 18. I cited something he did last YEAR. If Romney gave money to an anti-Jewish group or anti-black group LAST YEAR, would you ignore that too? Please be honest. Thank you.

As much as you ignore Obama donating to Jeremiah Wright and you KNOW an inner-city black church is not OK with gay marriage, gay rights, or gay anything.

I already explained the HUGE difference. Not about donations to any church. This is about the specific anti-gay conversion groups that leads to suicides.

It's OK if you don't want to answer my question. I get it. Bigotry against gays is socially acceptable. It matters nothing. My example proves this. You know perfectly well similar bigotry against blacks or Jews would NOT be acceptable.

Another recent example of Romney's treatment of gays. He gave a job to a super qualified gay man recently. The right wing haters starting screaming you can't have an openly gay man in a high job. Romney threw that gay man under the bus. Disgusting. Name me another minority group that would have happened to.

That is just silly spin. It is a frivolous issue that is nothing to do with gay rights.

No, I don't feel bigotry against gays is acceptable.

However, you have shown repeatedly to horribly characterize events in the worst possible way (re: untrue). So I tend to ignore them.

For example, 50 years ago while in school Romney and some other boys cut the long hair of a fellow student. Nice? No. Unusual? Not in the slightest. But YOU start ranting how it was a "violent attack" and how Romney should be prosecuted for assault. So, when you go off how Romney supports groups that drive gays to suicide, I take it with a rain of salt. It's the equivalent of saying that anyone who donates money during Sunday Mass at the local Catholic Church supports child molestation.

Again, I am NOT talking about contributions to churches. Please stop twisting the Romney gay cure group donations that way.

You're the Chubby Checker of twisting things around here.

And why should it be off limits to talk about Obama supporting anti-gay churches? Is it somehow OK if a black inner-city gay teen is driven to suicide by the intolerance spouted at his local hateful church? Sounds a tad racist, doesn't it?

Yeah, I remember this now. The guy couldn't take the pressure, resigned, and Romney tried to save him, to no avail.

Yes. I do follow the news, although probably different web sites. I follow it so much I am willing to discuss real issues like the economy, government spending, government budgets, candidate CVs, foreign relations, White House leaks and a myriad of other topics.

On the other hand you seem hung up on one very small area of discussion, which will not be a driving force in the upcoming election.

Do you follow the news on the main stream media?

I detest the New York Times but this article does have a seemingly fair analysis of the events surrounding your man's departure. Who knows, you might even find out something about the real issues if you read the NYT.

Not racist. Its just obvious you know Romney's personal contribution to cure the gays groups is indefensible so you choose to ignore that issue and try to divert it.

This link is to an article that looks like it is supposed to be a parody. Who would take this seriously?

That's the best you can do? Romney caved to the anti-gay right wing. That's what he does. He caves. He would clearly be an anti-gay president. I know. You don't care. But please stop acting like you support gay equal civil rights, when you clearly do not.

Sure I do. However I do not support gay marriage as I do not consider it a "right" in any way.

Here are some facts about what happened - something that is sorely lacking from that farcical fantasy on your link.

Aides to Mr. Romney insist they did everything they could to keep Mr. Grenell from resigning, sending the campaign’s highest-level officials to try to persuade him that they valued his expertise and that the matter would soon die down. In the end, they said, he chafed at the limitations of a disciplined presidential campaign. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/03/us/politics/richard-grenell-resigns-from-mitt-romneys-foreign-policy-team.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all

You're joking right? They were HIDING him because he was an open gay man. They wouldn't let him do his job because he was GAY. I find it disgusting that anyone would try to defend that kind of oppression. You conveniently ignore the PRESSURE put on Romney from anti-gay hate groups.

Hey, JT.

What do you think about the Obama administration adding more than $5 TRILLION to the national debt in just over three years?

Now, THAT is oppression.

No - that's either criminal behviour or sheer incompetence.

You say that I choose to ignore, I say you are in all likelihood twisting the truth and I don't really care all that much to investigate it for myself.

Could be incompetent criminal behaviour ;)

Sounds like the infamous Gay Mafia got him to resign by making an offer he couldn't refuse.

That is the problem. It takes hours of searching to refute some of these wacky accusations and some members post them constantly.

The few, the proud.....

Did Obama really think he wasn't going to get the gay vote anyway?

It's not only the gay vote that admires Obama coming out for legal same sex marriage. It's also his liberal base who need some enthusiasm injection as well as appeal for younger voters in general.

Brilliant political move by Obama today on immigration. Should lock up the Latino vote and generate more enthusiasm with that base. Go Barack! Compared to Romney, Obama is a REAL dream act.

In general, I think simply deporting young adults who were brought to the US when children (and beyond their control)can be too harsh. A better solution is needed.

That said, too bad Obama got flustered when a reporter asked him how the unemployed will feel by Obama allowing several hundred thousand young illegals to stay in the country.

http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/washington-whispers/2012/06/15/obama-heckled-by-daily-caller-reporter-during-immigration-speech-in-rose-garden--

You're joking, right? That reporter is a sleazeball heckler. Heckling the president in the middle of a speech. That is never done. You wait till the question portion. That disgusting right wing fanatic will never be invited to a white house press conference ever again, under any president.
