I have ruled out Rice. He can't pick her. Impossible. She is pro choice.

There is a small chance he may pick Rubio, but probably not.

He's not as good for the Latino vote as you think. Most Latinos are resentful of CUBANS, thinking correctly that they get unfair special treatment, and they are correct. Rubio would not move the Latino vote much in Romney's direction.

Also Rubio is the male equivalent of Palin. No, he is not a DUMBO like Palin but he is a charismatic STAR and he would UPSTAGE Romney. As such, he is an UNSAFE choice, and Romney is Mr. Risk Avoidance all the way.

I think that the real problem with Rice is that the media would rip her apart. Her lesbianism and pro-choice stance aren’t going to appease anyone. The more serious media would paint her as being a George Bush brownshirt and SNL would lampooned as a Sarah Palin in blackface.

Well I think you go too far. She may be a lesbian but if she is she's a closet lesbian. Of course that's another reason she won't be picked in the first place in the anti-gay right wing party. Romney already threw an exceptionally qualified adviser under the bus because the anti-gay fanatics didn't want a proud open gay man with such power. No way would she be compared to Palin! Palin is a MORON! Rice is brilliant. The connection the Bush and the Iraq mistake? Yes damaging. It's academic. She will not be picked.

Are you saying whoever the Republicans choose will be picked apart by the MSM and SNL, or just Rice?

We already know what Maher will say. Something obscene, demeaning and totally useless.

Probably any of them would be but I think that Rice would be an especially easy target.

I think Rice would be a popular choice among the general public, even democrats, but simply unacceptable to the republican base which is

I admire Rice very much. I felt sorry that someone as brilliant as her was stuck doing Bush's dirty business. She is NOT a political animal. She'll never run for any office. End of story. Next and goodbye.

I don't buy it. American liberals are immune from being called racist so it's easy for them to shoot down conservative blacks. That's what makes Rice and Colin Powell nonviable and what almost blocked Clarence Thomas from joinign SCOTUS. Just whisper that they are an Uncle Tom or a House Nigger and that's enough to undermine their credibility.

I have to admot that I would prefer Allen West over Romney, but Romney is way better than what we have now.

You're completely wrong. Colin Powell is very popular among all Americans. Rice as well but she is tainted by her Iraq War-Bush connection.

Louis Armstrong and Harry Belafonte were once popular among all Americans too.

That guy is a far right wing extremist. Now you have come out. Good.

Then I must be the only "far right wing extremist" that voted for Obama. All people do not fit in your boxes - drop the ignorant rhetoric. rolleyes.gif

West is a modern day Joe McCarthy. Red baiter. You seriously admire that kind of garbage? I can't explain why you voted for Obama. I have a right wing relative who did as well. Now back to the right wing fold. I guess you were seduced or something.

Dude, in Cong. West I am speaking the TRUTH. Don't hide from facts that are facts. Nothing to do with rhetoric, ignorant or otherwise. Apologies accepted.

West, who has described himself as a "right-wing extremist," became one of the 2010 cycle's top fundraisers after a series of fiery speeches and inflammatory statements made him a hero in conservative circles.

I am not "right-wing". That is just plain foolish. I am a centrist who has only voted for a Republican once in my life. I like Allen West because he is intelligent, articulate and refreshingly honest and I agree with many of his positions.

“I must confess, when I see anyone with an Obama 2012 bumper sticker, I recognize them as a threat to the gene pool.”

-Allen West

As far as him calling himself a "right-wing extremist". I can find a million nutty left-wing websites claiming that he said it, but I can not find the original quote to see how it has been taken out of context - which is usually the case with these hateful propaganda sites.

I found one that claimed that he is a Nazi - a black Nazi rolleyes.gif - that featured a photo of him in front of a bunch of a bunch of Nazi flags. With some research I found that he was visiting the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Museum in Israel when the picture was taken. This is the kind of lie that his critics cling to to paint him as something other than he is.

I found this to be an interesting article. Dirtdiggers anonymous, sponsored by Soros, et al.

EXCLUSIVE: Democrats Dump Opposition Research On Top Vice Presidential Contenders

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl, Michael Falcone, Gregory Simmons and Arlette Saenz report:

Mitt Romney and his team in Boston aren’t the only ones feverishly vetting potential running mates.

In a non-descript Washington, DC office building within sight of the United States Capitol, a team of more than a dozen Democratic researchers have spent the last few months examining every nook and cranny of the records of several GOP vice presidential contenders.

From the article...

"The American Bridge file on Portman, who has been the subject of more speculation than just about anyone else, runs nearly 350 pages. It includes sections on the Ohio senator’s legal career, his stints in prior presidential administrations and a rundown of his public statements on a raft of issues — from education to gun control to gay and lesbian rights.

The image of Portman that emerges from the briefing book, which the super PAC, has posted online in full is of a Bush-loving, deficit-increasing, subsidy-hating lobbyist."

The Washington Post is one of the most ELITE of American newspapers. They published the self description of West. Believe it. The Washington Post is an EXCELLENT news source. It wasn't an opinion piece. It was an OBJECTIVE report on West. Or are you saying the Washington Post is a hateful left wing propaganda site? cheesy.gif

You brought up the flag stuff just to divert from the truth. Your admiration for one of the most extremist right wing politicians in America today. Yes I kind of AM amazed that an ex-Obama voter supports such a comical DEMAGOGUE as West, but I guess that's your problem because as stupid as American voters are sometimes, that right wing extremist will never be more than a congressman.

Sorry, but wake up . The Washington Post sometimes makes mistakes, takes quotes out of context and distorts facts just like pretty much every other newspaper including the New York Times. If you really believe otherwise, I have a bridge that you might be interested in buying.

Here is just one example from a source that you will trust and there are plenty more.

But he IS an extremist! Read his positions and rhetoric.

OK, dude, here is the smoking gun over this silly question of whether West describes HIMSELF as a right wing extremist. Which he DOES here on the video. It doesn't matter though if he does or he doesn't -- HE IS. And so is any American who supports him! Come out, come out, wherever you are ... right wing extremists:

He is an "extremist" to those on the far-far-left. He is generally pretty sensible to those with more moderate politics.

"Well, first of all, we've got to get away from being offended by the truth. We've seen a 41 percent increase in food stamp recipients across the United States of America since President Obama was sworn in in January 2009. That has nothing to do with black, white, Hispanic or whatever. It's a fact, and we need to, you know, deal with that."

OK, dude, here is the smoking gun over this silly question of whether West describes HIMSELF as a right wing extremist.

Just as I thought. He was joking and all the wingnuts spun it into something else. I did not say that he did not say it, but that it was taken out of context. rolleyes.gif

This is typical of much of the silly political propoganda that you post and the kind of nonsense that is all over the wacky left-wing websites that you get your talking points from. That is why I usually just dismiss it, rather than go to all the work of proving that it is BS over and over again.

No dice. He is a right wing extremist by any OBJECTIVE measure.

Look, dude, this West character is DEFINITELY to the RIGHT of even openly right wing biased FOX News. It would be ridiculous to assert otherwise. Even Fox News propagandists would say so. Yet you for some bizarre reason are trying to sell this tripe that West isn't a far right wing politician. It makes no sense. Is your hatred of Obama so intense that you have lost all basic rationality? I realize right wingers just love to have black man like West as some kind of weird anti-Obama symbol, but please face obvious facts, his political position is far right.

You post a bunch of lies and distortions from a political opponent and expect anyone to take you seriously? This guy seems to be taking lessons in misrepresenting the truth from the Obama campaign who do take the Big Lie strategy very seriously.

Allen West is horrible and if I were you I would be ashamed to associate myself as supporting such a right wing extremist.

What's next from you? Defending Joseph McCarthy? Look if you're going to show such blatant support for these DARK FORCES of American politics, at least be a man and OWN what they represent.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qeu39p9ydHc

That looks like one of the Obama campaign's ads against Romney and it is just as "accurate"

If the election was Obama vs. West and imagine West was qualified by experience to be president. What percentage would vote for West? I say 25 to 30 percent because only that portion could stomach such a right wing radical as president. I reckon you'd say he would have similar numbers to Romney. You would be wrong. It's pointless talking to you anymore, you won't admit even the basics of American politics. No commentator worth two cents would deny West has positioned himself as far right, yet you continue to try to defend your position that he is some kind of "reasonable" moderate. He isn't. You're wrong.

and imagine West was qualified by experience to be president.

Imagine how different the US could be today if 3 years ago Obama was qualified by experience to be president....

boggles the mind

PS: Don't know this West fella at all........but your comment about experience could not stand untouched wink.png

yet you continue to try to defend your position that he is some kind of "reasonable" moderate. He isn't. You're wrong.

You are distorting again. I said that I am a moderate. West is a lot more conservative than I am, but he is far from an "extremist" as you have claimed repeatedly. Timothy McVeigh is a right-wing extremist.

If the election was Obama vs. West and imagine West was qualified by experience to be president. What percentage would vote for West?

Not very many because he is too honest. Obama would win because he is anything but.

I don't really think West is Presidential material. I think he would be more valuable as Secretary of Homeland Security.

Maybe even Secretary of Defense or Ambassador to Russia.

Edit in: I admire the man for his devotion to duty and protecting the men in his command. As I recall the incident, his unit in Iraq had been under some attack and they captured an Al Qaeda insurgent. Col,. West tried to get him to tell them where the bad guys were and the AQ insurgent refused.

Col. West took out his .45, pumped a round into the floor near the insurgents foot and rephrased his question. That seemed to make the insurgent much more talkative and his unit was safer.

He retired shortly after the incident, with the full respect of his men.

  • Author

Actually, I agree, but I would take him over Obama.

Agreed. I certainly don't think Obama has the leadership abilities of Col. West, nor his devotion to his country.
