Life Span Calculator

Featured Replies

This is a calculator that estimates your life expectancy. It's pretty cool.

It was developed by Northwestern Mutual Life.

It's interesting that there are only 13 questions.

Yet, they can predict how long you're likely to live.

According to this I am set for 89!!

Yeah, I got age 90.

I think ... no way!

Seriously, I think the thing is really flawed.

I found it interesting to see the way the estimate changed as I answered the questions.

What a load of crap my grandfather died at the age of 113 he drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney

my mother died at 92 never smoked and drank some times so I drink casually stopped smoking and

I only live to 69 drunk.gif

Seems l died last year and nobody has told me. ohmy.png

Also, it seems based on U.S.A. assumptions. I personally know risk factors I have that aren't touched on the survey such as regularly attempting to cross the roads in Pattaya on foot. I see the survey as a marketing gimmick.

Don't forget the risk of expat married to a Thai woman. It will surely kill you young!

I've also tried this with surveys that are more complex. Trust me, the result is likely to be much lower.

I was pretty honest and it seems I will live to 92, which with my current medical history will be nothing less than a miracle,

What seems to be missing here is questions about current and prior medical problems....

Imagine the drop in potential lifespan if they factored in riding a motorcycle in Pattaya.

Tools like this can be useful for retirement planning. This survey, I would take with a bucket of salt.

It leaves one to wonder though - does living in Pattaya (Thailand) extend or reduce lifespan?

I got a lifespan of 78. I did a much more thorough version a couple of weeks ago and got 76.

My grandad on 3 packs a day read that smoking kills

So he gave up reading.....

Conclusion: wanna leave longer, you've got to out-drink and out-smoke your grandpa! :D

89. What a load of crap!

Just a first question about BMI invalidates the whole test.

And what about wearing seatbelts? According to them, it will add one year to your lifespan, and not wearing will shorten you by 3 years hmm, if I only risk loosing 3 years out of 89, I would say - screw the seatbelt, I am invincible! lol

I agree about the BMI, but:

the seatbelt issue is of course based on averages and that means there are peaks and lows in the numbers, the average gain is one year and the average loss is three years - but in individual instances it could mean as much as twenty years or as little as one day! The moral of all of this is, wear your seat belt and reduce your chance of dieing today!

This has been a public service message brought to you by your caring TV community :)

45 for me hit-the-fan.gif

At least i was financially prepared to live that long.

They're worried about driving a car in the US with a seatbelt. Where does that leave me riding a motorcycle in Pattaya with no seatbelt?

Living on gravy time?

You are only as old as the woman you wake up next to.

93 here. I am budgeting for 95. Seems reasonable Pop just started yoga at age 89.

When i saw the BMI question i stopped. This test is real biased as an athlete with a lot of muscle and no fat your still in a bad BMI zone but real healthy.

I was up to 88 years old, until one of the final questions dropped me back down to 76. jerk.gif
