Online With Blue Tooth

Hi All,

perhaps problems is not the correct way to describe my post.

some may notice I haven't been getting online much over the past 10 months. The problem here is that I haven't got a land line coming in to my new house and have had to the noisy internet cafe'.

thanks to help from stu monster I now have a cell phone and blue tooth, Its taken me 2 weeks to just learn how to use the cell phone and able to contact family back in Australia. Christmas day sure did cost me some in phone calls and my 8yo daughter likes makiing calls to her brother back there.

I've been on line a fair bit over the past couple of days trying to down load updates. I have AntiVir guard and can only get half of a down load then it cuts off, should I disconnect my Zone Alarm to do this. Also I 've been trying to download skype.com and the same thing happens. Also when I comeon to thaivisa it takes a long time to change pages. Yesterday I tried to write this letter on two occasions but was cut off both times. My immediate suspect is my blue tooth can anyone verify this.

Another thing about the blue tooth is that I'm being charged for phone calls but not charged for time spent on line. I'm not complaining but experience has taught me there has to be a catch.

for months now I've been applying for a phone line and I now understand one will be fitted next week but I won't be able to use it for internet. Last week I was told they could ft me with a line capable of internet but would cost me an extra 13 K. yesterday my wife went in and told them no we don't want the internet line and they told her the price is now only 9K. and I would have to pay 1500b per month for it. I have elected not to accept this but will get a line that is not internet friendly, and if I continue to get free internet with my blue tooth I'll stay that way.

I'm suspecting graft here but should find out when the new line is connected and try to go on line.

Merry Christmas to All

Regards Joe

This doesn't sound like a firewall problem - if it where, you wouldn't be able to download half a file (you wouldn't be able to download any of it at all). It is unlikely to be your bluetooth either - if it is, rebooting your phone should sort it out.

What company is your mobile registered with? If its AIS, a lot of people (including me) experience frequent disconnects when using their GPRS service. Sometimes it is better than others. I haven't had any problems since switching to DTAC.

The phone line sounds extremely expensive (but where do you live? If its a rural area and they have to do a lot of work to bring a line in it might be fair enough). Ask a local to get a quote for you, might get a different answer.

Have a good new year.

your bluetooth is just a radio connection between your computer and your phone . your connection to the internet is with the phone.

you should be charged 1 baht per minute if you have a pre-paid sim card in your phone.

sometimes when I am online via my phone ( GPRS) the connection locks up and I either have to refresh the page or disconnect and then reconnect.
