90 Day Reporting - Comments And Experiences

You just go into teh Visa service one time to let them make copies of your passport.

Sign four TM47's & done. Took all of 5-10 minutes.

They do the rest & email you your slip

which you print & put in your passport.

I got my first one back later the same day I signed up.

What do they make copies of?

If you in and out of the country the TM card changes as does your exit and entry stamp + date of reporting.

How is all that dealt with?

They just make copies of the pertinent pages of your passport needed for the 90 day

  1. Passport page with photo
  2. Date of Arrival (Last Entry Stamp)
  3. Permit to Stay Up Until (Last Visa Stamp or Extension)
  4. TM.6 (Arrival/Departure Card)

5. Last receipt of Notification (Original)

I guess that is why they email me the new receipt of Notification.

They keep the original in my file for the next 90 day they need to do.

I don't know about the arrival card but I would guess since I would need a re-entry permit

I would also notify them.

In my case I no longer go back & forth & do not plan to for awhile.

At least more than the next year or so anyway smile.png

But glad you mentioned that if I do I will remember to take the new one down for them to copy

What I'm asking is once you leave the country, the 90 day becomes invalid and starts again on the date you re-enter.

Do you have to remember to send them copies of the new TM6 card, plus the pages with recent exit and entry stamp?

Sorry if I missed it, that was a lot to read. Arrival card is asked for - I have no arrival card, only the departure card. Is the stamp stating arrival date good enough?

Yes that is what I understood you to be asking.

like I said, I imagine I would do as you described &

drop by to let them have the new pages copied.

Sorry I may not have been very clear when I said

I don't know about the arrival card but I would guess since I would need a re-entry permit

But all in all it was a very simple visit to an air conditioned office where they served me

a glass of ice water & took as I said not more than 5-10 minutes max. So if for some

reason I did have to go out of country another quick stop with them upon return should

not be a problem.

Yes actually your name for the card is correct it is the TM6 Departure card

I think some call it an arrival/departure card because it is also stamped with your arrival date.

It sounds like the way to go, considering I'm only 5 minutes from them and 1,000 Baht not to go to immigration is OK with me.

I am surprised you know your 5 minutes from them as I did not mention their name smile.png

I was not sure if we are allowed to mention?

anyway it is the one in ChiangMai Land wink.png

Yes I'm only 5 minutes from them and I know of people that use them, but never really bothered before.

Once a year at the zoo is enough now.

If I didn't have a Thai Post office very close and convenient to me, and have flawless mail delivery in my apt (6+ yrs not one piece of mail missing), I would probably go with the visa assist service.

A week or so ago, I did my usual mail thing, which (not that it matters, it was peanuts) cost me:

8 B document mailer envelope (purchased at Thai Post)

18 B postage (registered)

5 B stamp (return postage)

2 B The cost of a few photocopies, return envelope, etc.

Grand total: 33 B

Mailed it Monday 29 Oct

Received and processed CM Imm Wed 31 Oct

Got my new TM47 slip back Monday 5 Nov

Hey that is a good deal mcgriffith

I was tempted to do the mail too.

But had read a couple of posts here that seemed like

they got lost or confused & the person had to go in anyway.

So I was a little leery.

Maybe next year I will try the postal route too.

Yes, it is that simple --- IF a post office is handy. Neither have I ever had a problem with any mail delivered to home as well as to a post office box.

Otherwise, one has to suck it in and visit the office. I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes, generally through in less than five. Of course, there is no guarantee of this. You have to have a sense of when to go.

Finally, avoid all the angst, and get one of the services to do it for you. That is really quite inexpensive.

An extraordinary amount of unnecessary bitchin' and moanin' about a simple procedure. It is annoying to have to remember to report every 90 days, but --- ho hum! --- deal with it. You'd probably have more impact worrying about world peace, earth warming, or the Greek national debt! Those who were worried about Obama being re-elected can now relax! There's an American constitutional provision barring another term! biggrin.png

Well, I made the decision today to pay the 1,000 Baht.

All over in 5 minutes and a real sense of relief that I don't have to set foot in that bloody zoo (albeit 5 minutes) until my renewal, don't have to go to post office etc. Yep, I feel good about it. smile.png

Yeah I felt the same way.

Cool little office with no crowds

serve you an Ice water, 5 minutes & your done for a year

Hard to beat

Like I said I got my first one the same day as I went in

10 days before my renewal...they must have went that day.

Can't complain smile.png

I know, I'm weak smile.png

But I really dislike that zoo.

Does not help that I get visa based on marriage & have to see the bull

that sits in the front center desk either...

Kidding ,,,,she is not that bad,,,, but not exactly nice either smile.png

I feel for you, the last two retirement renewals have been done by the sweetie that sits near the window - 10 minutes and finished, then 45 minutes waiting for a receipt!

"SWEETIE" !!! laugh.png AKA, according to some: "Dragon Lady." But, yes, she definitely knows what she is doing, is accommodating in appropriate circumstances, and you can even get her to smile from time to time. It helps, of course, to have your shit in order!

Bah I wimped out smile.png

Went two times recently to do my 90 day report

& the place was so packed both before & after lunch

I just left. Maybe just bad timing?

The once a year deal with the online appointment system

I will continue to do myself same as the last one.

For 90 day reports I decided to just go with the paid service route.

I just figured for approximately $7.50 each time I rather

just pay the Visa service to go ahead on my behalf. It is worth

$7.50 to me not to have to set foot in there. IMHO

Once a year to the zoo instead of five times?

Sounds good to me.

I know it can be interesting people watching experience etc.

But I can get that in many comfortable places of my choosing smile.png

Maybe next year I will go postal route but there again

How much less than 250 baht + time & worry is it ultimately?

The 1000 baht a year & never have to go to either the visa service office nor

immigration sounded pretty good to me.

I got my first one back later the same day I signed up.

I do not foresee any problems

With the barcode attached to the back of your passport it is a breeze, went in yesterday at 10.30 a.m and was our at 10.40. They just scan the barcode and sign your receipt. Don't need photocopies of documents that have to be checked. It is getting easier and quicker every time.

I remember long ago when she first started and was young and somewhat hot looking. She actually is very nice, but many years of dealing with the public tend to make one jaded after a while.

Actually I can imagine most govt workers after many years may grow

grumpy/tired of the job.

I also will mention once I realized where her screen saver picture was taken & started talking to

her about it she softened up quite a bit.

Are you talking about the one on the right hand side by the window, with straight almost shoulder length hair?

If so, I have NEVER had a problem with her ever since she arrived, always pleasant and finished in 10-15 minutes.

Must be us Dragon's together (if that's the person you mean). biggrin.png

Wonder why some find her the Dragon Lady.........couldn't possibly be their fault I suppose?

Maybe she doesn't suffer fools gladly? wink.png

My adventure with the mail in 90 day report: Using the Thai Post Office system I sent the required copies, with the filled out tm47, from Hong Dong to Immigration by registered mail. The next day immigration called me and wanted me to come down to the office and get my little slip of paper for proof I complied.

Seems I failed on two counts. First, the stamp ( a rose )on the return envelope I enclosed is no longer used by the post office.

Never mind, it was that post office that sold it to me. Second, they (immigration) don't have time to post that envelope back to me. Better I drive 12 k and get it.

At least I didn't have to line up at immigration to get the slip of paper. The information officer had it right there waiting for me. At least they were civil and almost friendly. Except they weren't going to mail it to me.

Less than 3 minutes in and out. Hordes of Asians milling about and not that many farangs.

My Thai partner gathered that if someone lived further than Hong Dong, they would honor the return envelope and mail it to you. TIT...

Doing it by mail was way too sensible and convienient. There was no way that it could last.

That part about the stamp bought at the post office being of no use is too funny.

As you said TIT ;)

Horrendous queues at immigration today. The ticket machine was switched off when I arrived and the only information was from the central counter which had a crowd of around 20 people jostling to get the attention of the immigration officer's attention.

They wanted copies from my passport today just for 90-day sign in. I don't remember (maybe I was) being asked for those before. It's not as if they don't already have 100s of copies of the pages already. Couldn't they just scan the relevant pages ONCE and keep them on file?

I feel that a visit to this office is now quite a degrading experience.

They always required the passport facepage, current extension/visa, latest entry stamp and departure card.

But I won't disagree with you- it is utter bedlam at CM Imm now.

Read the national English language press to find out why- it is the last days for foreign migrants to register and get legal (Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam). Just like farang, many procrastinate until the last days to handle this immigration issue.

Anyone who has the bad luck to have to do any kind of business there in the next days will be truly dazed by the experience....

To avoid the bedlam at Immigration use Assist Thai Visa for 90 day reports. All it took was one quick trip to their office to sign TM.47 and that was it. My next report slip was emailed to me and I'll print it out when at KSK again. 1000 baht for the year or 500 per report. Worth the cost for me. I visited Immigration once, to extend my tourist visa and hope to avoid or minimize repeat ordeals when possible.

Yes, I've started using them - don't have to think about immigration, 90 day report, post office....nothing, just wait for the email from them. For 1,000 Baht a year, it's worth it not to have to set foot in that place until renewal time, which I can hopefully book a time slot for.
