Yes, we should remember that terrorists attack other places than the US.

It would seem there is a collective amnesia when it comes to the events of 7/7, perhaps reflection on them begs too many difficult questions. I'm also amazed that nobody seems to have made any connection with the two groups of Islamic terrorists arrested recently and the anniversary of 7/7, but instead all focus is on the Olympics.

I overslept and was a bit late traveling to the studio in Shepherds Bush that day. Goodge street Northern line to Tottenham Court Road, then central line to Shepherds Bush. My train was evacuated off (i dont recall which station). I still get chills when i recall. I had no idea it was the anniversary. Weird, as it came up in conversation with a friend only just last night.

RIP. :(

Or it could be that we British tend not to make a big thing out of this sort of anniversary. We've had 50 years of terrorism to practice on.

Stoicism and quiet anger....its not a day to dwell upon...a quiet remembrance and move forward....the only positive response really....

The Tavistock bomb memorial in the grounds that became a mini hospital on the day of the BMA training centre.

Echoing the shape of the

the cylindrical plinth is also without a quarter section. This is a reminder of the 'broken pillar' of classical times, symbol of the fallen hero. But the break too serves a purpose. For each year on 7th July precisely, the shadow cast into it by the corner of the dial, will run along a carved and gilded line, as an annual remembrance of the tragedy.

Similarly the pillar has been devised so that the shadow of its edge, falling diagonally across its base will (at the exact time of the explosion each year) touch a second gilded line. For just that moment, the line will divide light from darkness - life from death - and is a powerful reminder of the tragic events of that terrible day.

Although we made the plinth, the measurements on the stone and the dial were made by the pre-eminent Sundial maker in the country. Its accuracy is almost hard to believe.
