not sure if quite the right forum for this, but - my girlfriend has a pay as you go dtac mobile with the happy credit setup. they seem to have just changed the format of the PAYG so that credit expires within a week or two weeks. does anyone know if any of the PAYG packages from thai telcos offer date-free credit topup? bit frustrating to stick a hundred baht on it only for it to then expire with 50baht of it unused.

I think a 100 baht top up nets 7 days of extended validity beyond the current expiration date, without other mitigating factors, on a standard SIM. http://www.happy.co.th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=212&Itemid=403〈=en

The Kong Khra Pun SIM never expires assuming you have activity - call, SMS, top-up - every 43 days: http://www.happy.co.th/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=89&Itemid=37〈=en

You can extend validity, by paying ~ 2 baht/30 days, ~ 6 baht/90 days etc.

TrueMove have an Inter SIM which apparently offers 365 days validity with a 10 baht top up, assuming you want to go with a crap provider?

AIS/One-2-Call also offer some validity extension options.

Why do you say they are a crap provider...??

Never had any issues with calling and the 1 Baht international landline rate is good by any standards....??

The 1 baht international is great, but they don't have as wide coverage if you are traveling around Thailand as AIS. But they do have a great H service which is like 3G.

Sorry beg to differ, for many years had Hutch, rarely ever a problem on coverage were I go. True bought them so Forced to change phone and have this new H service from True, it has been the worst 6 months, coverage very bad, most calls line/connection drops.....

Contract ended last week, and cancelled... bought a 1-2 call sim and 100 baht worth of credit and put in the True H phone, so far never a dropped call and never been without coverage..

never been on pay as you go before forget how many years [phones back then were to big to go in your pocket] so will see for a month or 2 if can manage,,,,, maybe 7/11 girls will top up the phone for me when needed can't see myself being able to do it or even see the numbers to on the little card, always been on 'contract' in Thailand.

Before Hutch, had AIS contract but back then was expensive.
