If you are looking for hardware or household ware in Chantaburi try Thai Watsadu on the main highway (Sukhumvit). It is inbound to Bangkok on the left hand side but after all the main Chantaburi exits/entrances. It has a huge sign you cant miss it.

Closest thing to a Bunnings I have found here. For those expats not from down under, Bunnings is a hardware chain featuring massive warehouses where they dont even know what they've got stuffed away there sometimes.

In Buriram they sell small screws - but look puzzled when you ask for washers that fit (they didn't actually say 'don't need'). Groups of shelf fillers sitting around on the floor with apparently no interest for, or knowledge of, what they are selling. TIT, if you know exactly what you want it's ok unless you land on a cheap copy.

one thing I forgot to mention is they have a range of schneider (made by clipsal) power point and light switches.

They have the thai orientation but power points are switched which I prefer when pulling a plug from a socket.

I have also changed all the thai light switches to schneider, so when the switch is down the light is on and there is the familiar red mark on the mechanism to indicate it's on.

cheers

You seem to be spoilt down there. In Buriram and region I spent hours trying to find nails! Eventually found some hidden away. I didn't find screws larger than 4mm or 6omm long, (strange because they have the corresponding screwdrivers), no L-screws larger than 30mm, no L shaped metal reinforcing strips. No common or garden paving slabs. We have a Thai-Watsadu also.

At the same time they have an impressive selection of stuff that the average do it your selfer would never need - including many young girls sitting around doing and understanding nothing.

went thru buriram the other day and saw the sign for watsidu, if they dont sell what you need then try the one in surin, which is well stocked.
