Lived in a shared house in inner-city Bristol in 1974. One of the guys there had this album plus Steely Dan's  Can't buy a Thrill . He had massive speakers in this old Victorian house with high ceilings. At that time those houses were out of fashion  and dead cheap. Post gentrification they then fetched much higher prices. 

Hugh was the album owner's name. Years later my friend and i ran into him in Weston super Mare, a desperate place. ' Don't  have kids!' he urged us , 'They take over your life.' Well of course they do!

I like the studio version, more guts on the guitar.

Everyone had a transistor radio  back then. When you went on a bike ride or a picnic, the 'tranny' would go too. This guy's voice was so powerful, practically breaking the speaker on those tinny radios. What a great song to sing along to.
