Democrats ordered use of snipers: Korkaew

BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai MP and former red-shirt leader Korkaew Pikulthong delivered a statement at the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) yesterday, saying a police officer had once told him that the Democrat government had given security officers the green light to deploy snipers for crowd control.

After the dispersal of protesters on May 19, 2010, Korkaew said he was detained at the Border Patrol Police's Naresuan camp in Phetchaburi province.

During detention, he said, a police lieutenant-colonel told him that the Centre for Resolution of the Emergency Situation had instructed the Border Patrol Police to deploy snipers to rein in the crowds.

However, the officer went on to say that the police did not heed the instructions because they had not been put down in writing. Korkaew added that he was ready to bring the officer in to confirm his remarks should the DSI be interested in pursuing this lead.

He claimed that the soldiers had coerced policemen into validating the discovery of military weapons that were found after the crowd-dispersal operation was completed.

In relation to the "men in black", he said he and other red-shirt leaders had repeatedly called on then-prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to unmask them to prove that they were in no way linked to the red shirts.

Korkaew said Abhisit had neglected to identify these men in black and had only recently revived the debate on their identity because he faced prosecution for cracking down on the crowds.

Korkaew said he could confirm that no men in black were present among the red-shirt protesters.

"I could only find one man with a black heart who ordered attacks on these people," he said, adding that even security agencies could not shed light on this issue, hence this was proof enough that no men in black existed.

He also criticised the final report submitted by the Truth for Reconciliation Commission of Thailand, saying it was written in a lopsided manner to cover up for Abhisit.

The TRCT recounted the presence of men in black during the April 10, 2010, anti-riot operations but failed to explain how their so-called involvement led to the high death toll, he said.

He also said that whether or not these men in black were present, the more than 20 deaths in violent incidents from May 13 to 18 at Rajprarop Road remained unexplained.

Same jack ass that gave this quote and released the phone numbers of judges and their families and is currently on bail for terrorism charges. Just sayin.

"He said the red shirts would arrest the judges if the verdict was viewed as negative".

So, who is the liar?

The armed "Men in black", much mentioned during last year's political violence, are in the media limelight again after Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung yesterday claimed those men donned police uniforms during the day.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/518677-men-in-black-are-policemen-chalerm-claims/page__hl__%20chalerm%20%20men%20%20in%20%20black

Anyway, the red kwais are only too eager to believe any BS they are being spoonfed by their "leaders".

So, we have another defamation case coming up? This one filed by the Dems?

Korkaew said he could confirm that no men in black were present among the red-shirt protesters.

Besides the ones clearly seen on stage? Or did they just happen to wear black that day with balaclavas?

This gentleman is attempting to sling mud using hearsay, something that is not admissable in court, that was supposed to have been said by a detaining officer, something that would be unlikely to have happened. Is it just me, or are others in this forum highly sceptical in regards to the validity of this man's statement.

What crap !

After 2 years he suddenly remember to have heart that some ordered police to use snipers !!!

Why had he not told anyone that before ??

All newspapers had been full of this issue the last 2 years.

Is it because he now had found a police officer who their will take his bribe and lie for him ?

The snipers was properly ordered by the man on the run !!! (he decided to offer some to get some synpati ) !!

"neglected to identify" them? Surely if they were running around with the red shirts, it should be the red shirts that have "neglected to identify" them.

Korkaew said he could confirm that no men in black were present among the red-shirt protesters.

I wonder how he could actually prove that?

Interesting to note that posters who are claiming that the recent book written and published by Abhisit Vejjajiva is in their view a work of fiction and deception are somewhat tardy in posting their support of the supposed truthful'' whistling.gif comment made by a leader of the Red Shirt brigade two years down the road after the event and based on hearsay .

'Talk is cheap they say' one is led to ask ' how much was paid to the P.T.P. M.P to start this little ball rolling?' .

There were apparently snipers, there were armed men dressed in black, Military/Police procedure would suggest snipers would request permission to open fire, rogue armed individuals attaching themselves to a peaceful demonstration carry no requirement of such instruction.

You are making an assumption here that one of them is telling the truth. I am sure I am not the only one thinking that both sides are twisting the truth and spinning specific events to their own advantage that the truth is being buried.

Any government in the world would be rightly justified to use snipers for crowd control... when such crowd includes people armed with assault rifles, grenade launchers and RPGs.

Or would Koerkaew would had prefered the government used carpet bombing to counteract the guerrillas among the Red Shirts?

So if all these highly trained snipers were deployed, why didn't they use them to pick off the hate-mongers inciting violence from the stage?

So Seh Daeng shot himself then?

Very hard to shoot himself in the head from another location, someone either in the red corner or the yellow corner pulled the trigger, we can only hope the uncoloured truth comes out and the guilty party is identified so that all the accusations and inuendo can end. You never know, the guilty party may be someone with no poilitical allegance who is reaping a profit by continuing the strife and stiring trouble.
