Using My Old Drill For My Bike

I did not find a tool forum, but as I was using my drill on my bike, I will bring the drill question here.

IN my old drill, all three pieces which hold th drill bit move up and down, but two of them are about one centimeter higher when at the top or the bottom of their range.

How do I fix this? :-(

Thanks

Yes, "Buy a new drill" is a distinct possibility, and I do already have another one, but would like to fix this one as well.

If you unscrew the end piece of the chuck you will open up to the back of those 3 jaws. Between the jaws there should be little springs. It sounds like the springs have come unseated allowing one of the jaws to push forward. Align the jaws with their springs and close the chuck up.

^ Or buy a new chuck. I'd like to help more but my local knowledge may not be appropriate where you live. If you find the right shop you could also buy some new brushes while you are at it and also re grease all the bearings inside the drill.
