there seems to be an overwhelming belief here that thai girls that speak English are BG or have had previous relationships.

If they have had previous relationships who cares, however it's not always the case, there are some very educated girls here and lets face it BG cannot at all speak good English.

my real question is how on earth can people form a relationship with someone who cannot speak English, and even further how do they hold it together, I would go insane, thats just me.

communication is everything in a real relationship, how do people sit there all day trying to make petty small talk about nonsense, just looking for something to say that they may understand, wouldnt it be easier to just find an English speaker.

Well the key is that the girl have a core understanding of English thru school or work. You would be surprised how quickly they perfect it being with you everyday. Twice I saw this occur with non BGs. If you were to talk to either you might mistake them for growing up in the USA by talking to them.

I have no idea. I used to live next door to a German guy, who spoke a little English but his wife spoke absolutely no English or German. How they have any kind of relationship is beyond me. His wife would often come and ask my wife to act as a translator!

this what im talking about,I talk a hell of a lot, I would go mental.

healthy relationships go beyond the physical.

Many girls, especially those with masters degrees but many with bachelors degrees speak passable English and read and write it too. By passable I don't mean by our standards, but you can talk or write back and forth just fine. Sometimes one of us has to ask for a "different word" but not much.

If you don't scrape the bottom of the barrel, it's easier. Besides, those gals might come with a 20K income to pay their own way.

Payak, how do you communicate over here?

same way millions of farang do every year, in english.

if not in quite poor thai, I just dont claim my thai is good, some here no doubt have good thai.

read above, the thread is not about how i communicate in thailand, its about relationships.

my real question is how on earth can people form a relationship with someone who cannot speak English, and even further how do they hold it together, I would go insane, thats just me.

Two questions here really

1. I didn't want a woman who could speak English because, I wanted to learn Thai, I wanted a girl who wasn't searching for a rich foreigner. I wanted a girl who behaved like a Thai girl, most foreigners ruin that behaviour forever in about 3 months.

2. Sex and babies, neither requires much in the way of communication skills.

My wife didn't speak any English at all when I met her (village girl), her sister (bar girl good English) introduced us and translated for us until we were married a couple of weeks later.

Now tell us all what an educated Thai lady wants from a poor Australian high-school drop-out?

well now that your on the attack for some reason i will.

its called love, but its not something someone who married after a few weeks would understand.

having very little, and keeping my wife for years says a lot, so its kind of foolish to use it to attack me, its pointing out something good about her character, she does not judge.

during your dates what did you talk about.

you said you want a girl who is not looking for a rich farang, then in the very next post you say what would a girl want with a poor australian, refering to me im guessing.

my wife is educated, speaks english and is very traditional, how do you define traditional.

you dont have to be the village idiot to be traditional.

Non verbal language is also important but it still difficult to have relation without verbal communication , for example how to express : I don't want to ask you to clean all dish , I just want you to volunteer helping me , if I ask you to do it meaningless . : by non verbal language .

.

Could the OP please define what he describes as 'Poor English' in quantitative terms?

.

come on i think we know what i'm talking about,it's when you have to ask them to repeat themselves 4 or 5 times everytime they say somthing.

its when you just flat out struggle to communicate, we all know what it is i dont need to spell it out we are all smart guys yes.

Thai men don't do dishes ..... a classic example of why you don't want a girl who previously dated a foreigner.

The neighbors would be totally shocked to see a man washing or cleaning, an insult to both parties.

We married under the same circumstances as everyone else in the village.

This is Thailand, arranged marriage is still the norm.
