Give it up mate - you're making an utter <deleted> of yourself.

Beautiful conversationalist. Fancy a few afternoon Changs down Soi 6? rolleyes.gif

Nope, nothing wrong with Soi 6 but don't visit there too often, perhaps once a week.

For a nice afternoon drink, I thoroughly recommend Lucky Star, or any of the other bars in the same complex at the bottom of Soi 8 - nice cold Chang, glass with ice, good view out across the beach, just catching the breeze as the sun falls in the sky - bloody perfect.

You guys that have a downer on Pattaya really don't know what you're missing.

The only Lucky Star bars that I know are opposite the Marine disco on Walking St, and they really do have a stellar view every night, LOL.

I don't live in Pattaya but after visiting I can honestly say I wouldn't choose to live there.

That doesn't mean I don't have a strange fascination with the place, there really is nowhere like it.

Agreed: the same fascination held by rubberneckers at an auto accident. tongue.png

Ammusing that people cannot see how disgusting that place is and simply agree....even though they choose to live there..thats up to them.

But it is black and white....it is filthy.

Compared to where? Bangkok? Who you trying to kid. smile.png Are there places in Bangkok that a pig would be afraid to go? Sure. The same can be said for Pattaya. The reason people don't agree is because you are not correct. Clubs that most people think are perverse started in Bangkok years before they opened a smaller branch in Pattaya.

Funny how you chose such club for comparison.

Whom said i was comparing it to bangkok...or anywhere in fact.

In general normal terms compared to anywhere...it is a filthy pig sty...it really is that simple...get over it, facts are facts.

Facts are facts, true. Bangkok is a filthy pig sty far larger and more piggy than Pattaya. Get over it. Klong Toey was a pig sty when Pattaya was a fishing village. I know. I was in both places in 1968. Maybe you should compare some numbers of crimes or bars or anything vile dirty between Pattaya and Bangkok. Pattaya has some very nice places and so does Bangkok. But if you want to talk pig sty Pattaya is very small compared to the Big Smoke. There is a reason that the premier adult website in Thailand is based in Bangkok. Give Stickman a call. He'll tell you.

There you go, relating it all back to sex....you must think sex is dirty or something to relate.

Bangkok is not a seaside tourist holiday destination with so called pristine beaches.

Get over it.

I'm sorry I didn't know you were talking about that kind of dirt. Well let me tell you where the dirty sewage comes from that washes up on the Pattaya beaches. It comes from Bangkok. smile.png So Bangkok is responsible for the dirt in Pattaya, get over it.biggrin.png

No one who has lived in both places would call Pattaya more dirty than Bangkok. Heck you can see the air before you breath it in Bangkok. Pattaya is pristine and clean and sanitary in comparison to the Big Smoke.smile.png

There you go off on your own wild tangents again as usual.

Show me where i said compared to bangkok please kerry.

Your over zealous argument in favour of pattaya says a lot about you.

I am comparing it to Bangkok. We are on a Thai forum. What good is calling a place dirty unless there is a standard to compare it against. Compared to Detroit Bangkok is only a minor pig sty compared to Singapore or Tokyo or Calgary ????

You can't understand anything without a comparison. Does Pattaya have clean beaches? It depends what you mean by clean. A Russian may think the beach is fine a Florida native hardly. smile.png What my argument says about me is I know Pattaya. I lived there for 3 years and you don't.smile.png What do I like about Pattaya? The food and the entertainment. Women? No, if a woman tells me she is from Pattaya I run the other way (too close to Bangkok).smile.png

Let's not compare Bangok and Pattaya for filth and sleeze

Can't be over zealous in favour of Pattaya. Best place in Thailand to live- caters to all tastes, whether you like golf or bargirls. Where else would you find a Temple of Truth or a Nong Nooch Garden?

If anyone can't avoid the bits they don't like it proves that they just like to be offended, as they are a tiny part of Pattaya.

Only downside is the Pattaya beach, but the east end of Jomptien is OK for some actual beach enjoyment.

Pattaya is adult disney land, not for everyone but some people sure love it & I hope it never goes away! If people dont like it dont go there, go to Samui

I think the haters suffer from a superiority complex and want everyone to know that they would never or have never set foot in Pattaya. The truth is they are probably staying in some shit hole bungalow in Issan with a wife who even the most desperate Thai man wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole. The only way they can get some enjoyment out of life is to try and bring down a city that many people enjoy. I am not saying Pattaya is the greatest place in the world, and a lot of Thai's say they hate the place as well and are only there for the money but it is pretty easy to ignore the Pattaya forum or any thread with Pattaya in it if you hate it so much. Or at least restrain the need to keep bashing the place in every thread.

There is a russian saying the precise translation of which is "every good has a potential buyer" meaning that there is a product to satisfy every individual taste though if you dont like it, dont buy it right? Sadly if you don't do but there is a tendency to like it in that particular place you'll be looked at as abnormal by the majority of people who do whats worse maybe you will be criticised for not liking it. it's funny noone can tell the difference between right or wrong but everyone seems to be able to judge you for whatever you do or don't do. This culture is predominant here. Don't judge and you won't be judged. I don't care if you stay or go. Up to you. Its an open country. You can do and say whatever you like. Some comments ive come across on this forum though are contradicting and totally lacking a fair reason for criticism. Who makes those remarks? I think you answered that in your post.

So I'm returning to Pattaya for a visit after a 2 year absence. I had worked and lived there for 5 years. My visit will be a combination of business, golf and R&R. Reading some of the comments on TV I am astounded at the amount of vitriol directed at Pattaya. I sometimes wonder if they are talking about the same place I lived or has it really changed that much.

So any real changes over the last 2 years I should be aware of or worried about? I get the impression that the high season has been a bit more busy than usual or at least more busy than it was a few years ago; is this really the case? Most likely heading there just after CNY, any comments on how busy things will be around that time?

Nothing "major" over the past few years. Buildings are going up quite fast, commercial and residential. Traffic is getting worse (just like everywhere in Thailand). Busy season was about like it was a few years ago. Weather is great right now.

Some old timers say Pattaya is much better than it use to be. Newbies/infrequent visitors seem to be the ones who complain the most.

As with anywhere, it is what you make of it. Some love it, some hate it....just like most other places in the world. Though Pattaya is "unique".

Thanks Craig. I do plan to make the most of it and will avail myself of Pattaya's unique attractions.

While countless new bars have been built on 2nd Rd, Soi Buakhao and surroundings, and Naklua. No problem.

Naa, you will be fine in Pattaya. Traffic is getting worse but thats happening worldwide.

Some posters let off some steam, posting of an unfavorable experience in Pattaya- but it doesn't mean they hate the place or the locals. Sorta like the thais gossiping.

In any case, somebody likes it here because there is no shortage of new arrivals :)

A huge variety of bars is something I hope never changes in Pattaya.
