The Legend Of King Naresuan Part Iii - Subtitles

I've been searching high and low for English subtitles to this film and I've yet to find any that have accurate translations. The three that I can find seem to find all over the web appear to be transcribed by someone that does not have a firm grasp of English, subsequently making the movie watching experience for someone that speaks "nit noy" Thai, quite confusing.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Don't they use a Voice recognition software to translate and that is why it is not that accurate.

I have seen a couple of King Naresuan films at the movies and they have had good Enlish sub titles but when i bought the DVDs there is no subtitles (apart from Thai) . Do the distributers not think there are people other than native Thai speakers who would be interested in versions of Thai History even if the accuracy is debatable.

Bear in mind it is possible to this day no clear translations are available.

Yes, but not all Thai films. The problem is that not all Thai films are picked up or promoted for overseas distribution. This is where the entertaining "extremes" of Thai cinema can come back and bite the film. If it's not "extreme" enough, namely not martial arts or horror, it likely won't be picked up for overseas distribution.

This situation means that many meaningful dramas, genuinely funny romantic comedies and sharply satiric films won't ever been seen by overseas audiences outside of film festivals. And this is a lamentable situation.

There are exceptions to this, of course. Most of the feature films by acclaimed arthouse director Apichatpong Weerasethakul have been picked up for release on DVD outside Thailand, as have films by other well-known, well-regarded directors, like Wisit Sasanatieng, Pen-ek Ratanaruang and Nonzee Nimibutr.

But mainly, the Thai films that end up being released on DVD outside Thailand are limited to the martial arts and horror genres. If you're waiting for a Thai romantic drama to be released on DVD with English subtitles, you'd better be prepared for a long, futile wait, or start learning to speak Thai -- you'll have mastered the language before your favorite Thai romantic drama ever comes out on DVD with English subs.

Thanks for your help Dancealot, unfortunately one of those subtitles is just as badly translated as the example I provided and the other is for the first movie of the four part series. Rats, well then I will have to wait until one of the content providers in the US approaches the holders of distribution rights to three and four (I think that is or has just recently come out?) and bring em state site or UK side.

Learn some Thai. I am still struggling but hanging in there..

Maph, I would have thought the bigger market would have been the art house , foreign film audience rather than crap martial arts or horror movie genre. The most successful Chinese films have been art house . Perhaps Thailand does not do any market research.
