Doi Suthep was quite clear to see this morning around 7.00 am but later the situation changed fast.and looks terrible again at noon.

5.30pm this evening the mountain was very clear from well to the East of the city. Nice to have some clear days.

Didn't manage to finish a round of golf at Hangdong today as the caddy and I were choking on the smoke from fires nearby.This was early morning and it appeared to improve during the day.

But the taste of smoke was on the teeth,in the throat etc very unpleasant.Never been affected like that before.

Anyone know website where figures are published for NOW , all info seems to be historic , other sites just give the runaround or are unavailable ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a nice circle with green orange and red with afew numbers and a gauge line would do , ...........seems they don,t want us to kmow ..........and my lungs are a bit sore ,,,,,,,,Jan 28 2013 ! figures for past years relevant , of course , but what are they today .? .

The debate about the burning of the rice fields etc has been going on for years with next to no change at all . We all think we have the solution and I am sure the governments of all of the countries in S.E. Asia have had think tanks on how to stop the burning and pollution .

Machinery will come in time to harvest the rice fields but what about the burning of corn fields? After the wet season there is so much growth everywhere and it needs to be cut back and burnt or just set on fire and cleared without any manual work other than to manage the fires. Its a massive task each year to keep the jungle at bay. What else can%

Might be a stupid question I was in Chiang Rai, Chiang Khong for a week and and I was not seeing all the smog I read about on here or is the burning season done in that area?

I would call this day 1 of the season. Can't see the mountains. AQI will break 100 today.. Reported tomorrow.

The hotline number is completely useless. They were totally disinterested and just gave out the fire department's number. And that was from a Thai reporting it.

So much for the city authorities taking burning seriously

Sympathize with that! And which department and how did the fire department respond? And what is the number you were given?

The air quality definitely "went south" over the weekend. Hiking in the hills on Thursday, fresh air. Cycling on Saturday, iffy. Cycling this morning - awful

Looks like the whole of Cambodia is on fire today. I only first saw the fire map yesterday and the difference in one day is incredible. Now it looks like the lower northeast of Thailand is starting to burn a lot more. Amazingly good around CM but I notice that provinces to the south are starting to fire up.

This morning just a slight chill to the water.

On a Good clear day I can see the Doi Saket Hills from my Condo on the lower slopes of Doi Suthep. Today only about half way across CM.
