I voted Patong. No special reason except I live here, and your poll looked lonely with no votes yet

Patong, there is more action, and I'm a co owner of Phuket Palace Resort, that's where I'm staying when in Phuket.

I would never choose to stay in Patong. I find it dirty, smelly and too "in your face". I live in Phuket and haven't been into Patong since before the tsunami. If you stay in Karon, you can easily get to Patong for a night out within ten minutes.

Karon is Boring. (note the capitol B!)

The beach is ok but way to exposed. I like Kata and Nai Harn better.

Patong is nice for the lively variety of everything. It is a bit noisy and in your face. But five minutes in any direction takes you out of the madness.

Patong wins hands down.

For quiet living with easily accessible everything: Chalong wins hands down!

For me Patong, since I Kan park my car and walk around should I wish to and have a drink or two and walk back to my digs.

I voted Patong, not because i particularly like the place, but Karon is dead boring, the beach has absolutely no shade and the lagoon/ditches behind the beach totally ruin the scenery.

I tend to agree: there are much, much nicer places around the island than either of these. But since the poll forced a choice, I voted Patong, as at least it's fun and has some character as a place. Karon, on the other hand, is a totally dull, generic resort area - beach is nothing special and the crowd positively geriatric (am referring to mental age, as well as physical).
