Fernox

Featured Replies

Anybody know if Fernox sealer (or an equivalent)is available in Thailand?

It's a pipe/joint (silicone based) sealer capable of withstanding hot water and high pressures

I need some because my click fit hot water pipes which seal fine have some parts with metal inserts and connecting these to another metal component (eg a stop valve) I always seem to end up with a very slight leak (I've tried with teflon and without teflon tape and I have changed the valve but still I have this very small weep on the joint. I know Fernox can fix it but where can I get it??

Are you talking about LS-X or simular? That's a jointing compound. I haven't seen anything simular over here, not even red lead.

You could try paint in the joint or even araldite ... a big bodge but may work.

Slap some gloss paint or whatever I suggested and allow it to dry ... if it still leaks slap some more on ... do it the Thai way............

Try using a mix of teflon tape and silicone sealant. The type used for sealing around showers or baths.

In bigger cities you may find Loctide, they have special sealants for piping. I once bought a bottle and fixed all taps and joints. My brother in law thought "stupid falang", but when he saw that all leaks were gone and all taps were tight and in a perfect vertical position, he borrowed the bottle and went through the village as the wonder doctor for leaking taps. I had to purchase a new one because the borrowing was one way as usual

I use Loctite 290 thread lock. Liquid gasket will not work it is a surface sealant. You'll need a thread lock to keep taps in position and sealed. There are many different types just go for a high strength thread lock.
