He was a Nazi. He was made Pope. As Pope, he did some things directly offensive to Jews. Do the math.

There was always some fishy about this Pope.

The Nazi youth youth with later hints of that trying to elevate a rabid anti-semite.

The running the modern version of the INQUISITION office.

The scandalous protection and privacy protection of priest pederast criminals.

I don't think history will be kind to this one. Good riddance, quitter!

wow You attack a wonderful man of God

Again, you twist what I have said. I did not implicate your recently quit Pope in Nazi war crimes. Name one place where I did. I do think it was wrong to appoint an ex-Nazi as Pope whether he was an "innocent" Nazi or not.

Perhaps it wasn't high on their criteria.

I'm not sure I'd like to be discriminated against in my job based on my youthful political affiliations.

No, JT, I didn't twist what you said. I simply didn't find it very useful.

I am not a fan and your God has nothing with objective reality. Back to reality, which of those bullet points is false?

Funny, I read your comment as accusing me of accusing your recent Pope as being involved in Nazi war crimes. Again, I said no such thing. I think that issue is settled now.

He's the same God; there's only one.

Back on topic: So am I right in thinking your viewpoint is that he should have resigned to appease the Jews?

Thanks, Harry. You bring back a classic piece of innuendo.

Something fishy. What?

Hints? Rabid antisemite?

Inquisition? Always a rabble-rouser.

Priest pederast criminals. Most of these are still 'innocent until proved guilty'.

Quitter? A wise decision, surely.

It sounds like someone who has decided what to think, and then looks for things to support it.

Do you have any proof that it's the same ole god ?

Pope Benedict soft on a holocaust denier. These are facts. Bad enough for any Pope. Much worse for a former Nazi pope as if he claims he didn't believe the doctrine, it was his responsibility to prove that later, and elevating holocaust deniers is exactly the wrong way to do that. Yes he was a Nazi as a youth. Again, a fact.

Connection to the Inquisition office:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11141340

Before his papacy Cardinal Ratzinger spent 24 years as a senior
figure in the Vatican, heading the Congregation for the Doctrine of the
Faith - once known as the Holy Office of the Inquisition.

It earned him the nickname "God's Rottweiler", and played to his passion for Catholic doctrine.

On the pedo issue, the church has a pattern of PROTECTING their own from prosecution under the laws of their lands. Agree innocent until proven guilty but get real, the church has been well aware of the guilt of many of its priests and protected them anyway.

A lot of us on here like to knock other religions. Normally its Muslims that get the shitty end of the stick of prejudice.

Personally, until properly provoked, I often try to suppress some of my prejudices, but like children, they are easily excited.

let's try hard to get JT off the papal Nazi who acted directly offensive to Jews.

here's my input: last week an old friend (Armenian, greek-orthodox faith, never sat on a conclave, never held any position in Nazi Germany, doesn't own dogs) and his wife visited us in Pattaya. over the years it has become a custom to take newcomers for dinner to a restaurant which we have not yet frequented.

this time it was "Indian by Nature" in Jomtien. to make a long story short, they were very pleased with our selection of dishes (they had no idea) and i was extremely pleased with my "hyper-super-galactic spicy³ hot" Kashmiri Rogan Josh which, accompanied by Naan, will be delivered once a week to our home (until further notice).

So yo are saying the Jews control the True Church

I was told that the next Pope shall be a Black ( who really a Mossard Agent )

He was not a Nazi, to be forced into uniform as a 16 year old in Nazi Germany does not by dint make you a Nazi.

So you are saying Hitler Youth weren't Nazis? You believe the story of forced. OK. What percentage of Germans who later said they were forced were REALLY forced, do you reckon? Hitler was so powerful because the public MOSTLY bought his message, that the German "Aryan" people were super special. So why later did the same man elevate a holocaust denier? You think a man with his story would have learned something.

He could have choose not to wear the uniform and be shoot. Like Otto van Mullear age 14

If he was forced, I don't blame him for doing the Nazi Youth thing. I have no basis of whether to believe his story or not though. Most people in prison say they are innocent. Some are. Most aren't.

@harry, he was an extraordinary young man...........the current Pope became an extraordinary man.

In saying that I'm no great fan of his ( possibly to say the least ) however to traverse the Catholic church and rise to his position was extraordinary.

The Pope was just old that is why he quit,

That excuse isn't usual. Not for 600 years anyway.

But he was a poor Pope who will mostly be known for quitting. That's his legacy.
