What Dash Cam To Buy And Where

Featured Replies

I’m looking to buy a dashcam.

My requirements (or wants)

  • Front and rear cameras.
  • Starts when engine is started.
  • Has monitor of the rear cam that the driver can see.
  • Saves by either button or when there’s an impact.

Would prefer something that is not big and bulky that would be seen easily (theft/break-in prevention).

Would prefer hardwired to the ignition (or whatever) and isn’t powered by the cig lighter. (not a deal breaker)

We very rarely drive at night, so nighttime quality is not a major need.

GPS is not a major need.

Would prefer to buy and have it fitted in BKK.

Any recommendations for a model? Or where in BKK to go see different ones that can then be fitted?

Budget: Up to around 10k baht. Would prefer closer to 5k, not that important though. :D

Thanks.

If you are looking for the DR-650 model and up PM me and I will give you the contact details of the guy I purchased from in Singapore but if you want the DR-500 model and below you can purchase online in Thailand. Try using the google.com.. Blackvue Thailand.

I purchased the GS52D from DashcamThailand in Bangkok.

It's a great cam and the company speak good english and offer a 1 year warranty.

What I have learned about dash cam's: Like all electronic equipment, dash cam's don't like to get too hot. In Thailand I would recommend having window tinting film in the car and the aircon on or, if possible, to install the cam on the rear view mirror to take it away from the direct sunlight on the windscreen.

They don't mind the Heat it's tinted glass that spoils the Repro, and ima bit peed off my 2year old one is now available at Lazarda for 800 not 2500Bht I paid I've seen thesame one for 350 Bht.pnly good side it gets reviews better than some expensive ones for Repro at night and day.Why they don't offer them as Freebies these days instead of crap window gunge I don't know

You get it on the same screen normally on the left part. 2/3 front 1/3 rear. Can be changed to look at just the front or rear in full screen. It'll also give you the opportunity of either on playback. Bit of faffing about with buttons but is available.
