BANGKOK: -- Last Thursday, Danish national, Bent Loyd Skjødt (37) was arrested in Thailand after spending 27 days on Interpol’s wanted list. Bent S. fled Denmark after being convicted of fraud and sentenced to community service.

The Danish national was requested wanted by Danish authorities because they suspected that he had fled out of country.

Usually it can take up to a year to get the national extradited, but because the Dane was wanted internationally, he was arrested by immigration authorities who detained the fugitive and then requested Danish authorities to retrieve him. He landed in Denmark today and will be put in front of a judge tomorrow at 10:00 am. Danish time. There the prosecutor will request that he is detained as he is considered a flight risk.

He was sentenced to eight months suspected of 50 counts of online fraud, where he sold goods he did not have such as phones, cameras and computer equipment.

Following the sentence he is suspected of more internet fraud. He is also suspected of having changed his brain damaged brother in law’s bank information to cheat him out of large sums. If found guilty the suspended conviction will be changed to a prison sentence. In addition he risks another four-six months for his most recent crimes.

The 37-year-old Dane has an 11-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old boy who he brought with him to Thailand. Here they have been staying with his Thai wife who says that she will take care of the children.

So far the Danish national will not be denied entry to Thailand and he will most likely be able to return to his children in a year or so, according to prosecutor Helle Giersing.

I suspect he didn't flee the community service sentence but more likely chance of having this changed to a gaol sentence because of the further theft charges he was facing over his looting of his brothers bank account.

He lucky to have a Danish passport. Cheat and steal from lot of Propel and then take to Thailand for holiday. Then later also have a government paid holiday to Danmark in first a class hotel. When finish staying in Denmark the government pay him pocket money to go back to Thailand again.

But Of course you are not lucky to have Danish passport if you are a honest and hard working person who pay tax.

Prisons in Denmark are full of criminal Muslims so no room for smaller fishs - community service to those with only few robberies.

According to a Danish newspaper article he claims to have been beaten up from day one in the Thai jail. 16 prisoners sharing a 8m2 cell and he only had 40 baht protection money. Apparently that wasn't enough.

I know this dude from articles from Denmark. He was selling xbox, ps3 and iphones and such on the "danish" ebay called dba.dk, He got the money but never shipped the goods. He is suspected to have cheated his own brother out of his money so that he nearly got thrown out of his apartment because he could not pay the rent. He is such a moron and has no concience or thoughts for/about other people. I just dont understand if that should be enough to get on the interpol list? Maybe he has done more that has not YET been in the papers or news here in Denmark.

Please understand me right, i really hope that he gets all the beatings and trouble he can find in his jail time. BUT ... I know a few bikers Hells Angels and Bandidos in Pattaya that on the paper has done more wrong and hurt more people in Denmark and are wanted by the danish police, but NO interpol listings ??? So i would also think that he must be in more trouble than the DK news are writting about. Anyway ... I am glad that they found him and he has to face the judge and the people he cheated. Im just wondering why financial crime is weighted heavier than personal injuries ?? Weird that the Danish police rather would like this man than the bikers that fled here and are going around and making more trouble in TH now.

Interpol is a clearing house for information, requests etc from member countries. Our friend in Dubai was convicted on criminal charges and a Red Notice could have been issued if the Democratic government had requested it. Remember how slow they were to revoke his passport ? I suspect they didn't want him back as he would have been even more of a focal point. The current government say " political charges " so Interpol won't do anything as it's not in their charter
