Shipping Prescription Medication From China For Personal Use

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if it's permitted/legal to ship antibiotics that are NOT available or registered in Thailand for personal use? Thai FDA has not replied yet.

Technically speaking you need a license to import pharmaceuticals, which you cannot get. The Thai FDA allows people to bring in up to 30 days supply of medications for personal use with them when they enter the country but have no provision, AFAIK, regarding having it shipped to themselves once already here. (The regs, like many regs in Thailand regarding foreigners, are developed with only tourists in mind not resident expats).

That said, small quantities mailed by normal postal service (as opposed to courtiers, which are to be avoided) are usually let through.

I'm curious as to what the drug is, as there aren't many antibiotics unavailable here.
