Well the future looks fu_ked for LFC

just miserable!

The more I have though about it we need King Kenny - just need somone to inspire the players - whoever is left after the summer. And someone to give the fans something positive to talk about.

However with key players going and no funds I think he has the impossible job on his hands. At this point mid table sounds like a miracle!

Thank god for the World Cup right now just to keep my mind of this.

i know it isn't quite the same man but that's kind of what newcastle thought about keggy keegan coming back. dalglish is a legend and i'm terrified of him being chewed up and spat out by the wanke_rs purslow and broughton, the modern media and also gods forbid, plenty of our own fans too. doesn't bear thinking about.

Looks like Liverpool want 25 million quid for Mascherano. Hmm. I wonder will that go into new players?!

ALso it looks like anybody who has ever played for Liverpool is now clamouring in the press for Kenny Daglish to get the manager's job. Is Hodgson dead in the water?

I think the owners will go for Dalglish. If he does not produce miracles with whats left of the squad, they'll look to blame him to detract as much as possible from themselves.

As a neutral i hope such an icon of the club and British football walks away. Does'nt deserve it.

dalglish met with manuel pellegrini at heathrow airport yesterday.

On their way to the world cup perhaps?

possibly. if you think that the chilean manager who lives in madrid would fly to johannesburg via london.

Liverpool are on the brink of finalising the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the club's new manager and Sven Goran Eriksson is the favourite to replace him at Fulham.

Roy Hodgson: Anfield target

Hodgson will return to England from South Africa, where he has been working as a World Cup pundit for the BBC, on Friday and will enter into final negotiations with Anfield officials.

The make-up of Hodgson's backroom staff is one of the key issues still to be resolved, with the former Inter manager eager to take Fulham assistant manager, Mike Kelly, with him.

Hodgson beat several other candidates, including former Real Madrid and Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini and Anfield legend Kenny Dalglish, to replace Rafael Benitez, who left Liverpool last month.

Former England manager Eriksson is top of Fulham's shortlist to replace Hodgson at Craven Cottage, with Mark Hughes and Tony Mowbray also reportedly on the hit-list.

Eriksson is currently in charge of Ivory Coast at the World Cup, but the Elephants are expected to bow out of the competition on Friday and the Swede can then consider his options.

"As usual there are rumours and agents phoning, but we will see," Eriksson said. "I haven't thought about my future and I haven't spoken to anyone because I don't want to do that during the World Cup."

depressing.

Why, Roy is a dam_n good manager, who were you hoping for? Pelligrini or Svenn the hornbill?

He'll keep you in the top half which really if it continues to go pear shaped will look not bad especially if there's a fire sale next month....keep the players you've got and who knows what he can do.....decent manager he is so you should give him a chance.

he isn't a 'dam_n good' manager, he's an alright one, a decent journeyman who has never really won anything. he's a likeable bloke and a safe pair of hands who will not stand up to the owners and board and who won't rock the boat. he's a compromise appointment and we just sacked a man who was subsequently snapped up by the champions of europe.

there's nobody i really want in. pellegrini would have been interesting but he would be too ambitious for the owners and want things like guarantees, assurances and a transfer budget.

Stevie, as a die hard scouser you should be used to the few highs and many many lows during this time.

Just consider the last 20 years as a blip, a ripple in the pond compared to the universe and time.

Be thankful television was around the last time you won the league,

Really, its all a matter of perspective. ;)

Liverpool to unveil Roy Hodgson as manager after agreeing £2m compensation package with Fulham

Hodgson set to replace Benitez at Anfield helm...

By Daniel Sheppard

29 Jun 2010 23:41:00

Liverpool will unveil Roy Hodgson as their new manager on Wednesday having agreed a £2 million compensation package with Premier League rivals Fulham for his services.

Hodgson will replace Rafael Benitez, now at Inter, who left Anfield on June 3 following a disappointing season and continuous clashes with the Liverpool hierarchy.

Discussions have been ongoing since early June and while it was reported Hodgson would wait for the outcome of talks between England manager Fabio Capello and the FA before making any concrete decision, it seems the delay was simply a case of financial negotiations between Fulham and the Reds.

Hodgson's first task will be to resolve the futures of key players such as Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Yossi Benayoun, all of whom have been linked with moves away from the club.

Hodgson is not new to high level management, having himself managing at Inter, while he also been in charge of Switzerland and Finland on the international scene, as well as winning league championships in Sweden and Denmark with Malmo and Copenhagen respectively.

Although the draw has yet to be made, Liverpool begin their season in late July in the third qualifying phase of the Europa League

Roy Hodgson......another misarable year for the reds.

He is a good coach for mid-table teams without expectations and not for a top team such as Liverpool where you must win or win. .

Anyway, Good Luck Roy!!!

Mid table teams - you mean England correct?

And unfortunately for the Liverpool board(but not the fans),Torres and Gerrard's stock has depreciated in the last month, they may end up staying yet?

I think its a strong possibility Stevie or do they have to be sold just to appease the bank?
