B U P A Insurance Coverage In U.s.a.

Featured Replies

I have Platinum covered with BUPA here in Thailand. They cover me everywhere in the world except for the one place I am going: my home in USA. I still have 6 months remaining on my current policy. I was told that "accidents" would be covered, but normal sicknesses or non-accidents would not be covered.

Has anyone had BUPA and tried to claim money back from an accident while you were in the USA? Was there any problems getting reimbursed? Any advice? If I do become sick while there, should I fly to Canada or Mexico where I will be covered?

Basically, does anyone have any BUPA / USA stories?

Thanks.

Yeah. Don't get sick and be broke in the US of A.

That's exactly what I do. I have BUPA Platinum and take out travel policy with World Nomads everytime I go to the US.

Sheryl, may I please have the contact info for this World Nomads? About what do you pay?

BUPA offers a "travel to USA" policy, but every time I've checked, it's pretty damn expensive. And this is not a trip, this a move (i.e. permanent). But I will still have BUPA coverage until Dec. 31, 2013. I'm being sure to get a physical and a dental cleaning before I leave. A dental cleaning in the US is between $75 and $100 (4 to 5,000 THB) and a haircut is $25!!!!!!!

At least I'm getting a good exchange rate right now.
