It's a circle and I guess it is also depending on age. SO different circles. Now getting older seeing different and it is "harder to cope". Memories involved to bring it up, but then you lived another time with other perspectives. You were younger then. Some things you miss now and others you would like to forget. One effects the other, you change and your feelings change to situation. Situation changes and your feelings change and therefor again situation. And it also is with people. You liked (or not) it in past, but not in present and therefor change. You should forget memories, past and then everyday is new. Problem solved? Nasty thing is , getting older, memories of long time ago pop up and you think ah why I did that like that or how could it happen, also gives a change in perspectives. But you were in another circle then. Not the same as now. Changes can be there every day. My first wife is still alive, I changed the way of thinking. So how big is the change in your mind and how are you handling it? Maybe ignore and make everyday a new day. Oooooom.
