VIDEO: Thailand's former Olympic badminton team brawls at competition, acts like children
By Coconuts Bangkok

VANCOUVER: -- A spat between two of Thailand's top badminton players turned ugly Sunday when Bodin "Art" Issara and Maneepong "A" Jongjit started a fistfight during an international competition in Vancouver, Canada.

Reports said Art and A glared at each other and exchanged heated words mid-match at the Canada Open 2013 Badminton Men's Double Final.

The brawl, which was captured on camera and uploaded to Youtube, shows Art suddenly letting go of his racket and chasing A into another court. Art then threw punches and kicked his former playing partner until tournament staff intervened.

The match official disqualified the two athletes.

According to medical staff, A received two stitches to his ear.

Art was partnering with Pakkawat "Top" Wilailak in the match and A's partner was Nipitphon "Tonnam" Puangpuapech.

After the fight the blame for the embarrassment devolved into a grade school he-said she-said.

A told reporters on Monday that Art started the fight and also gave him the middle finger.

Libel, slander, defamation and every other legal term known to man - Thais acting like children ! How dare you !

What about the illegal ones? A Group 2 hitman perhaps?

Nice one. Let's wait and see who they are related to, connection to or otherwise protected by before the Thai " authorities " take action

I suspect this in not the version of " Thainess" that Yingluck wanted shown to the world. This loss of control is made all the more fascinating by the fact these were international class athletes, and not farmers pissed up in a karaoke bar somewhere in Thailand. Truly an interesting look at the loss of the link between actions and repercussions.

A viscious assualt that clearly intended to inflict severe damage. Lucky the officials intervened. Sports competitors representing their country are not entitled to diplomatic immunity. The Canadian police should arrest and charge this guy if they can, as its doubtful the victim will press charges. Maybe under a public affray charge or something. If the Thais have any sense (first time for everything) they will send him home very quickly.

What a complete disgrace.

But, the Aussie Rugby captain who stamped on the Welsh guy's head managed to get cleared, twice, despite blatant video evidence, so who knows these days. Probably all be dismissed as high spirits or something.
