Now setting up the phone (Samsung Android 4.1)

How can I remove the wallpaper? No having any picture just black background?

On the home screen I can switch between several home screens, how can I reduce that to just 1?

Anyone could get Garmin maps to run like on Symbian?

On my Samsung S4 I also wanted a black background, only way I could find to get it was to take a black picture and use that, works just fine. And to get rid of unwanted home pages I go to a bit of space on any page and kind of pinch the screen, that then shows all the pages and you can drag the ones you don't want to the trash.

    I use the nova launcher, it allows you to define how many screens you want to have.

    As for the background, I believe there was an option in there too

    Garmin don't have a product for this region AFAIK. Try Google Navigator or Sygic on Android for similar.

    Maps for Garmin devices.....TSM for example
