I have been told that Wine Connection have opened a new shop in Laemthong shopping centre (Rayong). has anyone had a look? If so is it mainly high end wines or do they have a good range of everyday wines?

Definitely worth a look as there selection in Bangkok was very good and at reasonable prices. Also, driving to Rayong from Ban Chang is a hell of a lot easier than trying to navigate Pattaya's disgrace for a road system. Looks like a trip to Rayong on the weekend.

Wine Connection, Laemtong, Rayong: was in there a few days ago. Good range of wines from THB 400-1,500. Usually have some on special offer too. The deli section was poorly stocked - I still shop here in Ban Chang at Steve's or Village Shop in Camel pub for basic deli stuff. Hardly ever see any customers in Wine Connection - wonder how long it will last.

Odila (Gourmet) Market, Rayong: also worth a visit, although I have not been recently (keep meaning to). It's actually a fair-sized shop, not a market. No website, but if you google "Odila Market, Rayong" you'll find a few photos and directions to it. Not far from Laemtong Shopping Plaza on southern side of main Sukhumvit Rd. Driving from Laemtong towards Ban Chang you soon pass HomePro on the right and then come to traffic lights at PMY junction. At lights, turn left on Thabantook Rd (the road leading down to the coast) then turn right at next set of traffic lights and it's a few shops down on your left. Has wide range of wines, imported beers, deli stuff and other imported goods. Prices were a bit steep I seem to recall. I'll post a report next time I visit.

Market in Rayong sounds like it would be worth a look next time I'm there. We buy most of our deli items at makro or Friendship mart in Pattaya. Makro is okay to get to but Friendship can be a chore if you don't go early in the morning. I've bought the odd thing from Steve's Deli but most of the stock you can get at Makro a lot cheaper. Also I'm not a great fan of that street.
