BALI: -- Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill invites Thailand to join the oil and gas exploration and production in his country.

During a corridor meeting with Thailand’s Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday on the sidelines of the Apec Summit 2013 in Indonesia, O’Neill said that PNG petroleum minister will come to Thailand for a discussion with the Thai energy minister.

According to the Thai government’s website, O’Neill accepted the invitation to join the ITU Telecom World 2013, which will be hosted by the Thai government in November.

He also told the Thai leader that his country is opening an embassy in Thailand, to elevate the relations between the two countries.

O’Niell proposed Thailand play a more active role in boosting trade between Papua New Guinea and Asean.

At present, about 1,700 Thais are working in the country.

That's a change. Someone is pumping Yingluck for money. She must be confused because all her meeting with diplomats are for taking from other countries.

I would have thought that PNG would look to Indonesia's Pertamina for oil exploration and production development. However if the Mighty Crab can turn PNG our way instead it could lead to a very significant dollar cash flow.
