Just had friends and family over for a visit and rather than having them buy local SIM card, I set my Smart phone as a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, with password, so they could all be online during their stay. Easy and simple.

A bit hard on my battery, but not much impact on my 2 GB data limit.

It might vary from phone to phone, but look for Settings -> Tethering and portable hotspot -> Just turn it ON. It has a default username and password, which you can change as desired.
