So. My wife and I have worked hard on our fancy dress costumes and we want to make a night or two of it.

So we want to know where has Halloween celebrations and events planned and on which day and time.

If your bar or a bar you know is holding Halloween celebrations etc, please reply on this thread and let the people of chiang mai know.

Thanks

Phil

Ok. Slow start.

I have found the following

On the 31st from 8pm soho bar on huay kaew is having a Halloween party.

On the 2nd November. Spirit House charity night Halloween just off Chang puak (near tannin market?).

Where else?

What night is Zoe doing?

Soho Bar is probably not your cup of tea, Phil. I went in there by mistake one night a few years ago. First thought was how strange that a bar in Thailand had no females in there. After about 3 minutes and seeing two men kissing in the corner, I realized what was going on and left before ordering a drink.

The Good View Bar and Restaurant usually has a Halloween party every year. There is one bar on Loy Kroh that has a party every year too. I don't know the name. I'm sure Winnie the Kwai will be along to give the specifics.

Have fun!

Not to worry. It's not catching.

It's not contagious, but hereosexual men reading this thread hope to find a place where pretty ladies in sexy outfits will let the combination of costumes and alcohol lower their inhibitions. Will the gay places have these kind of women? Will they be real women, not the other kind?

Regarding an earlier post, does Warm-Up have a costume party, or was that post facetious? I rarely go to Warm-Up, I don't know.

Yes, they do. I won first place last year. I won a case of 100 pipers. I had to drink it all before New year though... Actually, a case of 100 pipers was more like a punishment... I would have rather had the 3000B for second place.

I ended up throwing a birthday party for a friend with free alcohol and we managed to kill off 6 of the 12 bottles.

Interesting. Is it on Halloween night, or will they have it on the weekend?

Don't worry, I won't be competing for your prize. I'll probably go in my traditional Dirty Old Man costume.

Halloween night. Zoes in yellow has a bunch f competitions too. And their first prize at some of that bars were 5000-10000B. This was before Halloween as not to compete with other places, despite having the biggest purse...

Does your wife know the Ancient history of Halloween. If she did, would she look at it differently considering the similarities with Thai Culture

http://www.newgrange.com/samhain.htm

"As millions of children and adults participate in the fun of Halloween on the night of October 31st, few will be aware of its ancient Celtic roots in the Samhain (Samain) festival. In Celtic Ireland about 2,000 years ago, Samhain was the division of the year between the lighter half (summer) and the darker half (winter). At Samhain the division between this world and the otherworld was at its thinnest, allowing spirits to pass through.

The family's ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. People wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves as harmful spirits and thus avoid harm. Bonfires and food played a large part in the festivities. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into a communal fire, household fires were extinguished and started again from the bonfire. Food was prepared for the living and the dead, food for the ancestors who were in no position it eat it, was ritually shared with the less well off."

Does anyone know when the Zoes in Yellow party will be? Considering the oddities that frequent the area on a normal night, a Halloween party there could be quite interesting.

But then, don't ask this question at Soho Bar! laugh.png

Last year the Halloween party for Zoes was before Halloween.

Also, I have been informed that the 2nd floor inside Kad Luang has lots of make up for sale, stuff used for plays etc. So I will be checking this out as I need quite a bit of make up myself. Heading there tomorrow, I will report what I find.
