Forrest Wayne (left) and Johan Daniel Wetzelmayr at Immigration this morning.

PHUKET: -- Immigration Police today held a press conference to announce the arrests and pending expulsion of three foreigners.

The first was American Forrest Wayne, 41, who was arrested on Sunday (November 17) at the Bel Aire Resort on Sainamyen Rd, Patong, at the request of the US FBI.

He is wanted in Texas on a charge of statutory rape. (See earlier story here.) His permit to stay in Thailand was revoked and he is being held in custody in preparation for handing over to the US Embassy and FBI officers who will escort him back to the US.

Arrested yesterday evening (November 18) in Rawai was 56-year-old Georges C Sirre from Belgian. He was sentenced in Belgium to an 18-month jail term for molesting three girls under the age of 11, with the sentence suspended for five years. He had a Non-Immigrant B visa.

He is understood to have since contravened the terms of his sentence by selling sex toys over the Internet. His permit to stay, too, has been revoked and he will be sent back to Belgium.

The third case was that of Johan Daniel Wetzelmayr, 32, from Sweden, who was arrested on November 5 by Karon police for overstaying.

They discovered that an arrest warrant had been issued for him in August in Hua Hin, on a charge of embezzlement, relating to a motorcycle.

He will be sent back under escort to Hua Hin to face the court there, after which he, too, is likely to be expelled from the country.

SUSPENDED 18 months sentence for fooling with 11 year olds w00t.gif.pagespeed.ce.fUUOmDCInI.gif alt=w00t.gif width=18 height=20> . Has the world gone MAD. sad.png.pagespeed.ce.5zxzyGiJz0.png

The world has gone mad.

He is a repeat offender. What i don't understand most of all is why a REPEAT offender would be given probation?

Totally insane. There is a lot of moaning going on about the 500 THB fines handed out in LOS, but a suspended sentence for a repeat Nonce is a joke!!!

Cracking down on the low lifes who come here to live, about time and good on them

for doing it, they give decent expats and tourists a bad reputation

I agree totally that getting these low life nonces out of here and into a prison (anywhere) is good. But I don't agree that they give decent expats (or decent anybody) or tourists a bad name. Football hooligans, drunken animals in their droves, maybe, because of the sheer numbers. But I think everybody recognises these nonces are not representative of any group (except other nonces). I also think that anybody who came up to you and said you were a nonce because there's been one expelled would expect (and hopefully receive) a good hiding!

Well, Thailand does seem like a prime destination for guys with these tendencies, which is why I have the problems I do--can't pick my stepdaughter up from school without someone giving me the pedo eye. Fair enough, they are looking out for the kids, but on the same note, get these guys out of here. Too bad they can't stop them from coming into the country in the first place. It would seem like they would be on some kind of list and could be arrested at immigration.

It's 2013...where is my rocket pack?

First of all, what is a "nonce?" Second, these guys do not seem that bad or dangerous to me. If the guy who "did something" to 11 year old kids received a suspended sentence, chances are that he already served many months waiting for his trial AND what he did what not that bad (ie. touching or taking photos vs. rape).

Statutory rape means having consensual sex with a girl under 18. So this dude may have had sex with a very willing 17 year old girl. So what? Maybe the US should drop the age of consent down to 15. That would eliminate 1000s of "nonces" from the world.

Finally, the dude who is wanted for extortion regarding a motorcycle, send him back for trial. I must tell you though, I have been swindled by many people regarding loans and investments, which they have never paid back. The police will not help at all. They claim it is a "civil matter." Therefore, I must hire a $300/hour lawyer, who sends out letters and demands, which generally result in zilch. That is justice in America. So I just let it go. It's not worth the stress.

In summation, these guys all have sinned - but so have we. They are really not much different than any of us.

Tell me about it!!! I live in Cambodia where the anti-pedo league shoots first and ask questions later. That is why I have to tell my half-Vietnamese daughter that she cannot hold my hand in public when she visitssad.png

From Wiki:

In the United Kingdom, nonce is a slang word for a sex offender or child sexual abuser. Although the term traditionally referred specifically to sex offenders, it later became a more general term of abuse approximately synonymous with "idiot".

With regard to your observations, and with specific reference to the word Nonce being generally synonymous with "idiot"........no, I won't say it. The Mods wouldn't like it. facepalm.gif

Sad but not surprising that we are a haven for pedophiles and the likes.

I'm still adamant on advocating that the most effective form of punishment for repeat offenders is castration.

Nip the problem at the bud. Maybe they'll all take up opera singing as a past time instead.

He was not a repeat offender when that sentence was handed out. So the repeat offender was not given probation, the offender was.

18 months suspended may look a very light punishment, but without knowing what he exactly did this is impossible to judge.

Well, whatever he did, it must have been very well explained to the judge by his lawyer.....whistling.gif

Yep some countries LOVE THESE crims.

In OZ is the same, recently a guy was FINED for selling and using COCAINE.

INSANE, and the law makers want us to believe they are combating crime.

Let them all go to CHINA, and see what will happen to them.
