Armed Forces now calls for national unity before it is too late

surachart-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Defense Ministry spokesman came out today for the first time to directly criticize the ongoing political turmoil with call for all sides to put an end to the widening and deepening conflict in the country before it gets out of control and is too late.

Maj-Gen Surachart Jitjaeng, spokesman of the Defense Ministry’s Public Relations and Information Office, said the political situation has intensified after the ruling of the Constitutional Court over the composition of the Senate.

He said rift was everywhere and deepened not only among politicians, but also media with conflicting news presentation, fabrications and bias.

They seemed not to accept the view of each other but merely wanted to defeat and overcome another just for the interest of their own groups.’

Such situation would jeopardize national security, he said.

He said that national conflict has developed throughout the past nine years and was deepening.

It is the time now for all these conflicts to end and all disputed parties coming out to face each other peacefully with talks as everyone shared the common love of their institutions and their country.

He said the past history has reminded all Thais that whenever Thai people disintegrated and struggling for power emerging, disaster will ensue.

Thailand has been regarded a land of smile and a land filled with hospitality culture but now are all these cultures still existing, he asked.

He said the current political instability is undermining national security, adding without security, the country could not survive.

The spokesman then called on all sides to set aside individual interest, stop creating hatred and stop hurting the country, but restoring peace and bringing happiness back to the people.

He said Thai people love their monarch, love the country and religion and therefore should come together to build the country before it was too late.

Is that a warning?

I would think so by him saying "before it gets out of control and it's too late".

Ate Thaksin's lasses back?

Did they return with the same amount of luggage?

Noone in their right minds wants the armed forces to deal with this mess, including the armed forces.

My girlfriend, from Chiang Rai and a Red Shirt-sympathiser who left Bon Kai 30 minutes before the trouble kicked off on 10 April 2010, just said "good" when I told her the army just made this statement. She says that Surayudh was a good Prime Minister, even if she acknowledges he was an incompetent one (!).

Wonder if the Defence Minister was advised a spokesman for the ministry would be making this statement?

Is that a warning?

What do you think? That is akin to the statement "The manager of the football club has the full support of the board".

The clock is ticking.

When the ruling government refuses to abide by and reject the rule of law as the current one is doing, they have lost their mandate to govern the country. It is obvious they have the RTP and the DSI in their pocket. As Yingluck is the DM they also think the military is in their pocket. When it comes to push and shove the military is loyal to only one person and it isn't Yingluck or Thaksin. When the hit-the-fan.gif.pagespeed.ce.6UelFDbFNJ. they will soon find out.

Pattiwat is one it's way 100% - democracy at the end of a gun Thai style - it's the Army that controls Thailand all has been and I fear always will. The problem will come when the poor conscripts stop taking orders..,,

2006 again...

The army did make plenty of warnings before they jumped in...

It was the Government of the time that put itself above the law and courts.

This is the spokesman of the defence ministry. Not the army. Yingluck is his boss!
Does Mr. T now offer negotiations as he start to realise that he cant win?

Suggestion to all posters,

For heavens sake, as well as your own, read your so very important post over a time or two before being in such a rush to push the send button.

Others may consider what you are saying much more if they can read and understand your writing. If it looks like gibberish and that you didn't even have the time to proof read, it will probably be considered the post of a moron. ..... and rightly so.

A wife says to her husband you're always pushing me around and talking

behind my back. He says what do you expect? You're in a wheel chair.

Now maybe the Major General can set the Prime Minister/Defense Minister down and explain this all to her. Maybe even suggest she and her cronies accept , expert suggestions, muzzle and or releive those refusing to do so, then set a example of their scincerity by following the letter of the law and accept judicial ruling.

Not if the military sort the problem once and for all instead of playing the nice guy as they did last time.

The problems of Thailand will only ever be overcome with a very tough and severe crackdown. As with any disease, eliminate the source of the disease permanently, not waste time and effort with half-hearted attempts trying to remove the cause by treating the result of the disease, it never works.

Armed Forces now calls for national unity before it is too late

IMHO This sentence sums up ALL that is wrong with Thailand!

How can you call for "national unity"? People have different opinions and ideas. Even if they were not bought and sold, as they are in Thailand...how can anyone say "be unified...or be punished"!

...and the Army, most of all!

<deleted>?

Everything in this country is always resolved by neglect or by violence!

Democracy, freedom of ideas, expression?

Anyone?

It seems that sad and troubled times may be ahead!

That's about as thinly veiled a threat as you are ever going to get.

This is the spokesman of the defence ministry.

Not the army.

Yingluck is his boss!

There have been plenty of tanks on the streets in Thailand over the last 20 years. Of course not all military warnings turn into coups, but its definitely a threat to be taken seriously.

And, of course, whenever a Thai politician or general uses the word "unity", what they really mean is "obedience"...

He said Thai people love their monarch, love the country and religion and therefore should come together to build the country before it was too late.

He forgot to add money into this statement.

'before it's too late'

What does that mean? Bullies in red shirts burning the streets down again?? Or maybe bullies in red shirts backed up by the army this time???

I would hate this to be a muted threat to the democrat/anti-PTP protesters, one can never really be sure here.

Too late for what???

Can you imagine if a military officer said something like that in US or Europe - they would be asked to resign immediately.

Was this taken from the book "Chicken Soup for a Coup"?

Reminds me of my childhood days, when I pushed things close to the tipping point and my mom would (without saying a word) silently open the kitchen drawer, grab and place the wooden cooking spoon on top of the fridge before she gave me that special look...

If the army act, Thaksin will only be back in a box

The only way this country will ever find peace and stability is , IF Thaksin stops this power trip and greed and gives up his political games and retires with his amassed fortune !!,

If Thaksin really loved this country and the people , he would've left a long time ago to let real democracy and the true will of Thai people to decide where this Counrty goes !!!!

Evolution does not favour greed .... this country can never evolve until greed and corruption is stamped out
