"Jatuporn Promphan told the press yesterday that this decision was made in order to bring red-shirt supporters to the capital from upcountry so as to protected Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra's elected government."

So he's saying that the police aren't capable of protecting the govt from "The Whistlers"...

The BIB aren't capable of wiping their own rear ends without detailed instructions, so they can't be expected to do anything difficult, such as their duty.

could somebody please explain the meaning of"BIB" ?

'Boys in blue' - the old bill (the police)

Or, here in thailand, the 'Boys in Brown' !

This is all so sad and frightening.

On one side we have the SUTHEP instigated group which he will stir to his utmost. They are all thinking that they are doing it for Thailand.

On the other side we have the government supporting redshirts. They are all thinking that they are doing it for Thailand.

If only they could see that they are being used by the likes of Suthep and Jutaphorn.

Why oh why can they not ignore these trouble makers and have their say at the ballot boxes.

My partner's mother, a lovely lady in her 60's from Suratthani has joined the crowd in Bangkok influenced by Suthep, thinking that she has to do it for Thailand, likewise i am sure that there are lovely old ladies from Isaan also being used who are doing it for Thailand.

Utter stupidity.

If it was'nt for Suthep whipping this whole mess up in the first place,Thailand would be better off.

I am so concerned for both these groups of old ladies and innocents.

The reason for fighting

I never did get

But I learned to accept it

Accept it with pride

When God's on your side.

Late last night the main route from the south had road spikes everywhere and then some guy in a large gas tanker 'broke down' accross the middle of a main junction then amazingly locked his vehicle and could not be found for the rest of the evening! Police prevented anyone from approaching the vehicle and attempting to move it. By the time i went to aleep there were 200 buses and cars in a tailback full of anti government protestors destined to never arrive in Bangkok. Thailand hub of democracy and hub of fair police forces !

I have heard that the reds have blocked the main road to Bangkok with a container at Chumpon.

Can anyone confirm?

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I haven't heard that the road has been blocked by a container, but I have heard that the road has been booked just south of Chumphon by flood water and may be blocked north by flood water after the dam at Tha Sae burst this morning.

Spikes on the roads around Chumphon.

Blockage that police refused to move, south of Muang, Chumphon

Those who had got there 3 hours ago.

I think this is going to be unprecedented in terms of Bangkok protests.

I hope they keep everything in place till all have managed to get there.

Apparently over 400,000 in BKK already and climbing.

Got exactly the same same information regarding spikes from family members and friends of family heading up (including photo evidence), and the involvement of the police in trying to prevent people passing. The specific individual who posted the photo of spikes did make it there in the end, but he happened to be traveling alone up for business - not sure whether the busloads of protesters got past. Looks like quite a few from around the country made it to the protests though..

Edit - started writing before the post above appeared - yep these look like the same spikes I saw a photo of too.

Second Edit - before anyone asks - no, none of the people I know heading up are being paid to do so.

There is a lot of using going on on both sides for sure, it may be Suthep this time around, but 3 years ago you could easily say the same about Thaksin-by-proxies. 4 years prior to that the boot was on the other foot again - it's complete flip flopping.

To me it's apparent that 4 year terms are simply unworkable at this stage in this country, perhaps they should do 2 year ones.

Panthongtae urges Thais to call on Suthep to stop rally

November 24, 2013 3:22 pm

Panthongtae Shinawatra, the son of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Sunday urged Thais to call on protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban to stop his anti-government rally.

Panthongtae wrote on his Facebook wall that if Suthep managed to bring out protesters to topple the government, the country would stand to lose and Thais would lose from the rifts.

He said all Thais should urge Suthep to stop and return to work in Parliament instead of leading street protests.

Main reasons is the PTP has exceedingly overreached and there is finally enough public dissatisfaction with the PTP actions to force new elections. Which is the point of the whole action. Violence by the anti-government is not their aim, though it may still happen, but making the pressure go up so far that the Shiniwatra clan must back down from trying to become the new uber elite in total control. The sense bill was a move in that direction.the 2.2 trillion loans an attempt to garner more election funding to buy more power if this goes bad for the yingluck government.

But Thaksin's ego was so badly bruised from his ejection in 2006, he can only gain back his face by increasing his control over the nation. These people in the streets have stopping that re-accent as their main priority. The fact roads from the south are being blocked, shows they are truly scared that this could bring them down, and not directly into a new election that the PTP has enough money to buy again. Add to that no more money to buy the farmers rice allegiance. Seems the big flood really did too much damage and the high prices asked have meant Thai rice has been unsalable for 2 years. Not how the liege lord planned it.

No matter how they paper over the sides allege des to leaders and figure heads, this is a battle for control of the nation by two semi-dis functional elite factions and the conned average so chaos they have convinced to follow them. As this went in 2006 2008 2010 so will 213 follow suit, the PTP under that Kuhn T, has made a few moves too far and too fast, as the rice debt has exploded and there may be no way to dial back the inevitable backlash one more time.

The 'other' newspaper that cannot be posted here are reporting that the protesters plan to invade government buildings this evening, According to CAPO that is.

Including military installations, all television stations, offices of political parties and government offices.

CAPO has ordered the police not to confront them and just take pictures and video of the protesters.

Looks like no government business tomorrow folks.

Panthongtae needs to go and boil his head.

I wonder how much he actually writes himself on his Facebook page and whether has Daddy assigned a team of writers to do it for him.

Yeah.. Interestingly the current speech is comparing Thaksin to Hitler and the PTP to the Nazi party.

Which is quite funny, as that is exactly what I was posting yesterday in response to a statement pertaining to the constitution amendments being valid due to article 129 being based on the German constitution. After checking this on Wikipedia it confirmed that these were part of a rewrite by Hitler straight after he assumed power.

Say what you like about this guy, but the fact he is as dumb as a sack of rocks does lead to some very funny postings on his FB page.

If Thaksin Shinawatra was to fall over his wallet and die today it wouldn't make any difference whatsoever to the political situation in Thailand. Suthep would probably argue that Thaksin was still running the country from the spirit world and the fight must still go on to remove the democratically elected government

In other words an excuse, however tenuous, will always be found to bring protestors onto the streets. The vast majority of the Thai population must be heartily sick of this playground behaviour that is bringing the country into disrepute around the globe

The aggressive views of so many of the forum contributors are particularly worrying. If the views are made by persons from the Western world who have chosen to live in Thailand it would seem to be so much better, in my view, to try to calm the current situation rather than to inflame it further

Let the government govern
