I see the movie is up for release soon with the slight modification of increasing the title character's age from 6 to 16.

While Ender is the smartest person ever tested and mature beyond his years I still think the the credibility leap is a bit too much.

Should readers let reviews put them off watching the movie?

My knowledge of this subject is zero ...... I'll do some research later.

We saw it in bangkok in October, first day of release. was a good movie for what it was, not exactly high art but we; me, mr boo & 6 yo master boo enjoyed it.

I think if Ender had been 6yo it would have been a bit of a leap but I totally beleived a 16 year old who had played 'puter games his whole life being better than harrison ford at going to war using touchscreen consols.

You should read the book, it has to have a totally different ambiance to a movie with teenagers in it.

Saw the movie which encouraged me to read the book. They're both good but, as usual, there's far too much in the book to fit into a movie. I'd recommend seeing the movie if you get a chance.

What I thought was that the book was definitely unusual, different even... and specifically so when you consider when it was written.

I doubt that that strangeness could have been carried over to the film but I'll have to wait and see.

The idea of a hormonally charged 16 year old boy playing computer shootem up games to practice for the real thing is going to struggle to fit the bill in my opinion.
