BANGKOK, 2 December 2013 (NNT) – Thailand is playing host to an international forum entitled the “Global Forum on Media and Gender”. The event is being held until December 4, 2013.

The Ministry of Education is joining hands with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Thammasat University in organizing the first Global Forum on Media and Gender. The forum is taking place at the Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok from now to 4 December 2013.

The key objective of the forum is to form a ‘Global Alliance for Media and Gender’. The forum will foster debate, provide training, encourage the sharing of experiences, and host a high level session, which will be informed through the consensus of all stakeholders, and which will design the Global Alliance for the ‘Women and Media Follow-up’ of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.

The forum is also aimed at strengthening the role of women in society through the media, with the focus to be placed on race, social class, ethnicity, religious belief, and sexual orientation.

The last thing Thailand needs, is this ridicoulous "gender ideology" copied from the West.

Could you elaborate, please?

Surely you are being sarcastic. If ever a country needed a sexual revolution & a feminist movement it's Thailand.

Pertinent to this topic is a letter to editor this week in Phuket Gazette, no link to it but essentially calling out the paper for calling adults "girls."

Language is everything and slang use in a newspaper reducing grown women into girls is blatant sexism.

Comments claiming woman is an insult are depressing, to say the least.

I'd settle for them working by merit.
