Mate, just as an aside.

My Thai gf is doing a small build/renovation.

While it's easy to buy form the big boxes like HomePro etc ... it's considerably cheaper to get the local guy to make your windows.

We are getting a couple of small aluminum sliders and the estimate is Bt $4,500 and a larger slider Bt 8,000 with insect screens.

Just an thought for you.

If you have a Thai Partner, best to send them into the shop for the quote, none of this double pricing <deleted> ... whistling.gif

Oh ... natural or anodised is cheapest, then the bronze colour ... black or white seem to attract a premium ... don't know why.

We're going with the bronze colour.

From what I understand some will make the frames, some the frames and glass and sometimes the glass thickness 3mm or 5mm ... from memory ... so warmly suggest that you nail those details also.

Go to a shop that makes the windows/doors. Have him come to your house and show him what you want and he will measure and give a quote.. You can have your GF bargain with him but I butted in and got a better price when I built my house.. I got eight 2.5 meter aluminum windows with screens and one small bathroom window for 40k baht, he started at 50k. He said three weeks but showed up three days later . But, that was 15 years ago.

I paid a bill for 43 white aluminium windows and sliding doors for a house just last week. With 1.5mm profiles, and 6mm AGC green float glass, the total was 112K Baht including bug screens and fitting.

Definitely worth shopping around, and as noted, forget about the chain stores for this - too expensive.

FYI: I have factory made PVC downstairs (THAI-AUST (?) from Global) with bug screen and local guy good quality Al sliders with screen upstairs. Both holding up great after 3 years. Personally, I prefer the factory ones where the window slides up/down with static bug screen.

I'm following this topic with interest WC, I was also looking at UPVC Windows in HomePro, I'm working offshore and can't remember the name of windows but it was a german make and does sound a little bit like Hoffman as you're referring to, they also offered free fitting and installation.

Yes they are Hoffen windows .

At Homepro, and they have brochures on there standard stock sizes.

If u have not already got sizes try stay with the sizes they have because custom will cost more.

I am getting Hoffen windows there at home pro just bigger than the ones I am replacing now and they are

stock so easy to install .

Good luck

Yes, too late for me re the standard windows, started our build last weekend and I'm afraid it will be custom fit, the windows are longer but narrower than the standard so we've no option, in our local homePro I was impressed by their sliding glass patio door, which also had on display a neat looking inner steel security curtain, still not decided yet for sure which brand we will choose but I think we will go for the UPVC rather than the Alu, just out of personal choice rather than anything,
