BANGKOK, 6 December 2013 (NNT) — The Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association is currently reconsidering holding its regular New Year’s countdown celebration due to the effects of the political protests.

Although the President of the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association Chai Srivikorn previously stated that the “Happiness is All Around 2014 @Ratchaprasong” campaign would be held from this November 19 until January 31 of next year, the Association is now considering to postpone or cancel the event all together.

President of the Khao San Road Business Association Sanga Ruangwattanakul reported restaurants and hotels have started to feel the effects of the decrease in its tourists - with restaurants experiencing 60-70% decrease in revenue and hotels a 50% decrease in theirs.

Index Creative Village co-chief executive Kriangkrai Kanjanapokin stated that December is the peak month for holding events. Recent political demonstrations, he added, have put a strain on many event businesses. However, Mr. Kriangkrai assured that Index Creative Village would still be hosting its countdown events.

Must be lying - the TAT has already guaranteed that tourism has been / is/ ever will be unaffected . This man is in danger of being charged with some offence against the good reputation of Thailand or something vague like that..

On a different note - hope ZEN's insurance policy is fully paid up this year. Just imagine if a stray firework fell down and set fire to the building in 20 different places....
