Here is a thread from Bigfooty.com started in 2010

It asks the question: Bottom 4 and Top 4 teams in 3 years time

Interesting how many people picked Melbourne in their top 4

Also, how many people had SYdney and Port Adelaide in their bottom 4

Yep, an interesting thread.

Speaking of Melbourne, what would guys consider to be a pass mark for next year?

I reckon 6 wins would be the minimum for me.

Who do you guys like for tonight's Brownlow?

I'm tipping Selwood, Robbie Gray and Fyfe 3rd.

Speaking of the Brownlow, Joey Kennedy is already a winner.

What a stunner.

Didn't think too much to of this when it happened other than "yeah, they might take a look at that on Monday" good to see that was the worst of it and nobody's facing a stint this week.

Thought Buddy might be given a tap on the shoulder for "engaging in rough conduct" when Scott Thompson was trying to bum him, glad to see it wasn't even looked at.

Brownlow roughy: Spiderman.

Almost identical stats to Selwood and Fyfe.

Had Tom Rockliff played every game this year, I'd put a tenner on him as the ultra-outside chance.

Going to be close I reckon.

I like your thinking with Parker.

Rockliff has been suspended though so it might be hardthumbsup.gif

Mr Smith and BookMan

What was hannerberry's middle and end of the year like?

Just polled 10 votes in the last 3 roundsw00t.gif

He went missing I thought.. Injured as well if I'm not mistaken.

Buddy might have this if he polls well in the last 5 games...

Don't discount Spiderman either..

Joey Kennedy's doing well but did miss the last 2 games..

Ablett finished on 22.. Scary to think what he would've polled if he wasn't injured..

My boy Matty Priddisclap2.gif

Glad to see the club got something out of the season.

Joins Judd and Cousins as our Brownlow winners.

My good friend Sue with an opportunity pic tonight.

That was a bit of a dark horse getting up to win!

Congrats to Priddis and some excitement for West Coast

Most of those Sydney gals must have been cursing the fact Sydney players couldn't be down in Melbourne for the Brownlow count...All dressed up and only a few to see it

Dark horse alright. He didn't make the all Australian team either.

They say he is also the 1st to come through rookie list to win the award.

Well done.

Matty Priddis, is a very worthy and humble BROWNLOW winner......a running midfielder with a mop of blonde curly hair would attract the ump's attention.

Nadia Coppolino-Bartel, this year's BREAST AND FAIREST winner, certainly attracted my attention.

Josh Hunt has hung up his boots after 212 gritty games of AFL footy (198 with Geelong and 14 with GWS).

At 185cm and 102kg, that gave him a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 29.8, classified as overweight and marginally short of obese.

Under 18.5 - underweight and possibly malnourished

18.5 to 24.9 - healthy weight range for young and middle-aged adults

25.0 to 29.9 - overweight

Over 30 - obese

BMI does not differentiate between body fat and muscle mass, which means there are some exceptions to the BMI guidelines. Clearly, Hunt is one of those exceptions.

Hunt's challenge, now that he has retired as an elite athlete, is to maintain training and keep the fat off.

Many have failed before him, and legitimately found themselves in the obese classification.

Nice one.

Some differences i noticed:

  • Crowd drinking in the outer using actual beer glasses
  • Crowd smoking a pipe
  • Streamers on ground
  • Running through a very very very small remain of a banner. Not like these mammoth ones now
  • No Advertising hoardings on the fence. Which is an actual metal pole fence.
  • Only the AFL Record could publish the players numbers. (I never knew they changed from week to week)
  • Most players have their socks pulled up
  • Jumpers are tucked into the shorts
  • Goal umpires moved a lot more. Looked like human not mechanical robots.
  • The behind poles are much shorter than they are today

John Longmire wins AFL Coaches' Association coach of the year award

Sydney coach John Longmire had a small win over his long-time friend and Hawthorn counterpart Alastair Clarkson before the AFL grand final.

Longmire beat Clarkson by one vote to take out the Allan Jeans Coach of the Year award.

The honour was announced on Tuesday night at the AFL Coaches Association Awards evening.

Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland praised Longmire after a brilliant season that culminates in an appearance in Saturday's grand final.

I hope for a spot in the 8....realistically with the amount of money there thrown at the coaching and admin staff the expected shake up of the playing list and expecting to land several catch of the day fish ( dont laugh we have even at our worse been able to land Daws and Clarke) anything less than 9 wins i would see as a failure.

Roos history on recruiting is a good one, there is no 5 year plan at Deeland, were not after youth were not rebuilding the members are bleeding and we cant go another 21 years in the cellar before making the finals again.
