Passengers start to crowd Mochit bus terminal in Bangkok to depart for holiday

BANGKOK, 28 December 2013 (NNT) – The Bangkok Bus Terminal was yesterday packed with people who chose to go on their New Year's holiday early, despite Friday not being a holiday.

The passengers who flocked to Mochit 2 yesterday said they elected to begin their trips away from Bangkok early to avoid traffic congestion. The passengers also told reporters they were fortunate enough to be able to purchase tickets without advanced reservation, and it also did not take long to wait for the coaches' departure.

According to Wutthichat Kanlayanamit, managing director of The Transport Company, between 10,000 to 80,000 passengers will use the company's buses per day this weekend. The Transport Company has increased daily coach trips by 5,000 and is adding additional 1,500 extra coaches to facilitate this increase. He is confident no passengers will be left stranded due to the lack of seats.
